  1. Hi TenDogs i did that and they told me the only way they could prevent the sun was to issue me a new card with a new number and charge £10 for doing so

Hi Every one, I applied online for a 2 month free trial with the Sun online DVD rental and its gone pear shaped, my account is showing me as having 2 dvd's at home (which never arrived) and despite me trying to phone them and several emails to them, they appear to have died, i even phoned the sun and was told i would be phoned back, yet nothing. My concerns are that they have my credit card details and its impossible to cancell the service, online your directed to answer your secret question then told to phone them, on phoning the line is dead. So not only have they proved how crap the service is, they have access to draw funds from my credit card for a service they have not provided, and nor do i want them to, avoid it like the plague. Any suggestions please Regards Andy P.S. Any one else having same problem, or anyone getting a reasnable continued service from them?

Just a warning to the vulnarable members who have had the great experiance of the Vanquis Credit Card aka provident finance in sheeps clothing, they are now advertising on FACEBOOK under an identity of "Huddersfield Credit Card" so be aware that it looks like our friends at Provident are mutating into new identities. Is that because Vanquis have had poor media attention? Andy
  4. In june last year i spent £1500 on a washer / dryer / dishwasher / frost free fridge freezer. Last night i opened a drawer in the freezer and it broke off, it was not over loaded, and not iced up as its frost free. This morning i phoned for a repair and was refused unless i took out an extended waranty there and then, the extended waranty they offer me in the post every month since i purchased the items? I thought an extended warranty was indeedy an extension of what you already had for the first 12 months. I am fuming that they have tried to exploit me, my wife is disabled and i care for her, we are vulnarable enough without this sort of stuff, its something i would expect from BrightHouse, I purchased online via my Debit Card (Natwest) any idea where i stand? So far i have reported this to Trading Standards, WatchDog and complained to Comet head office informing them of my actions in reporting them to the above for what i feel is ilegal explotation and it may even be discrimination for not taking out an extended waranty, its disgusting. I canceled a direct debit to Virgin Media that was due to leave my account on the 21st of December, I canceled it through my Online Banking on the 20th of December and it showed on my online account as Canceled, However when i looked at my Account on the 21st of Dec the bank had attempted to pay the direct debit but could not due to insufficient funds. They charged me £38 and had reactivated the canceled direct debit in my online banking and it was still showing as active, even though the day before it showed as i canceled it. Its my understanding of the Direct Debit Guarantee that you can cancel a direct debit at any time prior to the payment date. So where do i stand, the bank refuse to refund my £38 saying a message would have popped up during my online cancellation warning me that three days notice was required? I saw no such warning and i do not see that clause written into the Direct Debit Guarantee rules. I believe that if my banking system allowed me to cancel it online on the 20th of Dec and at that point my account was not overdrawn at that time then surely i am in the right? Anyone else had this problem? Any Advise please? Kind regards Andy

I am paying £10 a week 2 just for gas fire, and gas cooker which we do not use very often, we are just a married middle aged couple on benifits with a disabled wife, its outrageous especially as our electric is £20 a week, looks like i will have to now pay more than £10 a week for gas, and it will only get colder. Andy

Hi everyone, ok.... i have a gas token meter i credit via card top up, i have never owed a debt, i have checked my meter which is the modern one with LCD readout & Menu, it shows no debt, no standing charge, i have complained to BG that my gas is costing a fortune and was my meter set correctly, they claim i am only paying for what i trully actually use, and here comes my problem. Due to the cold weather, i have been putting £20 every 2 weeks when i get my disability benifit and for the first time llast night, i ran out of gas as my gas fire went out at 10pm, i went to the meter put on the £5 emergency and on returning to the house, i went to bed. This morning i went and got more credit (£20) on putting the credit in, it displayed a charge of 1p and then showed my £20 credit, then displayed 23 pence used of emergency credit. How can i have used the 23p, once my fire went out i turned the fire off, i have no pilot gas lights anywhere that remain on, therefore while i was asleep, where did the 23p go? my water is electric emersion, my oven is pitzo egnition as is my gas fire???? i did not use any gas when i got up and went to get credit. if i had a leak the gas meter would not have turned back on. So BG has robbed my of 23p during the 8hrs i was asleep, at that rate its 0.02875p an hour, per week thats £4.83 a week or £251.16 per year. What should i do here because plain and simple i see this as theft. BG assure me i have no charges other than paying for gas i use. If its a penalty for going into the emergency credit, then thats an amazing intrest rate. Andy

Hi Rory, thanks for the welcome, i have been a member for a while, just a silent one I could change my number but it would be a massive task as i run a help group of which 3500 members have my number, and on principal i do not see why i should, its been my number for 30 yrs, some low life lender is not forcing me to change it. Its also tied in to the medical health system for my wifes needs. It seams Vanquis aka provident, have despite a letter informing me they are investigating my complaint have passed my details to Impact Collection Services of London, however thats also a trading name of provident finance, the number now annoying me is 08000191556, however its the same voices calling, how bizare.... They call every morning at 9am prompt, i silently answer it at the moment and record the details in my log book, and i will be passing on my reports to OFCOM on a weekly basis in writing. Would other members maybe give me some backbone support to put to OFCOM, the more they get i sopose the sooner they will act. Regards Andy

Hi my name is Andy, I have sent them the S.A.R. over 2 months ago, also telephone harrasment letter, reported them to OFCOM, all i have had is endless calls, every day, a letter saying they are investigating my complaint from them, a debt collection letter from Impact Collection Services now an email from them telling me to contact them. My wife has a medical disability, scitzophrenia and she has been made ill by the phone harrasment. From there Vanquis call centre i can recognise 2 voices, each in turn phoning our line, we now answer it silently and the harrasment means we cannot answer our phone normally to our family, i am so annoyed i would love to see them sued, up till about 2 weeks ago we were getting up to 10 silent calls a day, this freaked out my sick wife as she got very frightened as to what they would do next, so add me to any list to take action.
