SLC have registered a default notice for a statute barred debt
fermi replied to Stanley 10's topic in Students
You mean agreements under the CCA197 surely? BTW, they did actually issue the old type loans to continuing students after 1998. It was freshly start students that went on the the new style ones. -

1998 I don't have copies of my earlier ones at the moment, so can't say if they were the same. -

Would a Student Loans Company debt be covered under bankruptcy ?
fermi replied to 2ltr16valve's topic in Student loans/SLC
Student loan debts are not clear by bankruptcy. Sorry. If I am made bankrupt, will I still have to repay my student loan? -

Their legal advice is very dodgy. http://www.ico.gov.uk/upload/documents/library/data_protection/detailed_specialist_guides/default_tgn_version_v3%20%20doc.pdf -
No. Trotter's Independent Traders acted far more legally, honestly and with much higher moral standards than the average DCA.

Assuming that the debt (or future liability) existed before the bankruptcy and is of a sort that would normally be cleared, then it is covered whether declared on the original forms or not. Considering that a lot people going through bankruptcy are a 'tad' stressed, this is pretty common and the OR/trustee see it frequently. Contact your former OR/trustee and pass the paperwork on to them.

Morgan Stanley/Goldfish Cabot are now chasing advice please

They probably mean 'Excerpt'. Easily done. (Especially if you are using a spell checker and don't look hard enough at the suggested corrections. ) -

That's a lot more polite than I would have put it. -

Maybe they should have held on to all those CCA £1 postal orders that they returned saying that they "don't accept them"? -

Don't feel tooooo guilty. If the debt was SB, they probably only paid pennies for it in the first place. -
Just saw that as well. No reference to genuine help though online. BBC News | 'Misleading' debt firms shut down

Not only that, but from a previous search of the ICO website.

Not even threatograms. Just vague threats over the phone. To be honest the girl I spoke to hadn't the faintest clue, and just kept on repeating the threat. Ignorant threat monkey basically. That was 2 months ago. Not heard a peep since.

Are you sure of that? The clause below is from a genuine SLC agreement of about that time.
