  1. Hiya, No I haven't tried contacting them yet, I thought I'd take a last ditch approach with the Housing Association, except she said we couldn't change the date, but she would ask the Judge to make a suspended claim for possession because we had reached a payment plan and she would also advise him that I couldn't make the court date, because of work, but something just doesn't feel right somehow. I am really hoping to have them clear, or at least all but clear. I have worked out how much I now owe, and its just under £550, so not a great deal, but enough. Im not looking forward to the New Year at all at the moment! Thanks for your help.xx
  2. Hiya, yes I thought about this myself, but i didn't want to do anything which would appear as though I were making excuses about my not being there. Surely the Judge will look on it as if I don't care and that I should do anything to help? I know, I didn't even claim benefits when I was out of work for short periods, which probably hasn't helped in all honesty. It just seems no matter what we do, it's never enough. I realise I haven't helped myself, and that getting into arrears in the first place is entirely my fault, however I can't stop worrying that I am going to have nowhere to live come the New Year. If I decrease or clear the arrears, do you think the HA, will stop the court action?
  3. Hi Olives, Thank you so much for your reply, I can only hope you are right, and that the Judge see's things that way also. Its really hard to stop worrying at the moment, although I fully accept this is my fault. Thank you.xx
  4. Hi Everyone, Ok, bit of a long story but in brief, I moved into my house in November 07. Basically because of work and other financial issues I've had, I have had arrears pretty much since the tenancy began. Not high at first, I received a Notice Seeking Possession in February of this year, so I rang up the housing association who advised me to make a payment arrangement, which I did, however I didn't stick to this as I should have done. With my job, it's a rolling contract and sometimes I'm out of work for one/two weeks whilst its renewed, which means I have no money. I didn't bother claiming benefits in that time because of the amount of time it takes to go through, so my rent fell behind. Then some weeks I wouldn't pay anything, so the arrears built up. A couple of weeks ago I phoned them up to try and make another payment arrangement, but she said because my payments were erractic it was hard to follow so they are applying to the court for a possession order, which I have now received...the hearing date is on the 6th Jan. I have been reading the papers and basically it reads as though it is in my best interests to attend, only problem being, i'm due to be elsewhere on that date (work), so it will look like I can't be bothered to be there . I have emailed the Housing Assoc to see if a change of date is possible....anyway I have been paying off the arrears a little each week on top of the week for a couple of months now, and by my figures it sits at £600. I have been doing a lot of overtime at work, so have worked out I should have made a significant dent in this before the court date. I am worried as I'm convinced the judge is going to evict me, and then myself and my daughter will have nowhere to go (im a single mother), we have nowhere else to stay and the council have said they will be unable to help as I would have made myself intentionally homeless, by building up the arrears - does anyone have any advice at all, as the 6th Jan is getting nearer and I'm getting more and more worried. I really don't know what to do for the best. Thanks Kirsty
  5. Excellent, thank you. I'll get that letter printed off and sent tomorrow, should reach them by Weds with a bit of luck. I guess I'd also better check with my parents that it's nothing to do with them whilst I'm at it. I'm wondering if maybe it's my bill, but for this house? Although surely they wouldn't get the address wrong, I really am confused! Guess we should start with that letter and take it from there. Thanks for your help so far. Thanks
  6. Ok, I will do, but surely by sending them that, I'll have to give them my current address? If I use my parents address, then they will assume I still live there won't they? Also, it says to pay up by the 3rd, which is Wednesday! All this before christmas, joy
  7. Hi Guys, You've helped me wonderfully before, so I thought I'd come back and try my luck again... I got a letter today, addressed to somewhere I haven't lived for over a year (and the bills were never in my name, as it was my parents house), anyway, it is from Moorcroft and it reads: ANGLIAN WATER SERVICES NOTICE OF INTENDED LITIGATION (note how it is dated the 26th Nov, yet it only turned up today!) To prevent the above action, send payment in full before 3/12/08 or Telephone ******** immediately. If you do not respond to this letter, we will assume you are purposely avoiding repayment of this debt and will take the nescessary steps to secure settlement which may include issuing legal action against you. Please note if legal action is nescessary your debt will increase as follows: Just goes on to mention court fees etc... Then...Please note we have confirmed with a major public utility that you are in occupancy at the above address Hmmmm - well I just tried to ring them, but office closed, probably a good thing cause the day i've had, they would have got a mouthful. Firstly, I don't live at the address on the letter, so god knows who their "confirmed with a major utilty company" is! Second, do they assume I'm just going to ring up and pay it, without questioning the dates, etc, just because they say so? I just wondered what i can do really, as I don't live there, haven't for over a year, and it was my parents house....it's all just a bit weird. I would assume the bill isn't for my parents, as they pay the water bill monthly. Thanks everyone
  8. Does anybody know where I can get a template of a letter to send to a company for a refund? I have posted a previous thread, only had no response, so thought I'd try again! I brought something online, and it turned out not to be what they said it was. I was advised by Trading Standards to send the company in question a letter stating misrepresentation of goods and requesting a refund. I don't have a clue how to word a letter like this, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  9. Sorry - but does anyone have a template, or know where i can get a template of a letter to send to the company?
  10. I have just got off the phone to Trading Standards, and the lady advised me to write a letter to the company, send it by recorded delivery and wait and see what they come back with. Does anyone have a template of such letter? I have no idea how to word it that;s all. She said to write that I feel the website is a misrepresentation of what was actually accessible. To request a refund and see what happens. She said I could either use the angle of "No cooling off period" as in once you access the site, you are locked in, or "breach of contract" but I didn't sign anything? I don't know what to do
  11. I don't think it is letting me paste what I wanted to unfortunately, but hopefully you get the generally idea.
  12. don't know what happened there!! This is an extract from the site once I'd paid "To order a disc and/or books please telephone 01227 818649 (
  13. Hi sequenci! Thanks for your response. No the terms and conditions don't say anything about that. I know I keep repeating myself but from the text I pasted, I honestly believed that I would be received access to full study materials. The price I paid was £145. If I had gone through ifs direct, it was £130, and you do actually get the study materials in hard copy form. All I got when I paid ,was access to the "module" which was in fact this " Throughout this text we will be giving you TIPS to make your understanding easier.
  14. Thank you very much! I had thought about printing it off incase they did just that, I'll do it now. As for speaking to them, what are they likely to do? I have just read their terms and conditions, (which are hard to find, and in small print!), and it says that refunds are a no go basically because once it's been paid for, and access given, the information is available for download. At this point, anything is worth a try. I am so frustrated! Does the text I pasted earlier sound to you guys that the course material is provided once you pay? (or is it just me!)
  15. Ok, I have checked the website, and the front screen says this " Would you like to complete a CeMAP training course but haven’t got the time to do it? We have the answer! We now offer an Online training course for those who wish to do it in the comfort of their own home or office and at their own convenience. Benefits of doing CeMAP Online! Complete the Online course in your own home or office and at your own convenience. No pressure, No timescales! Sit the CeMAP exams at your convenience and when you feel you are ready to take them. Our Head of Training, Mr David Kemp has written the Online course with an easy to follow approach. He has condensed the Modules Books down and has re-written the context in an easy to understand way. He has highlighted the sections which in our opinion are vital to learn and he marks out sections which you need to give attention to. You can book and pay Online and within hours be able to commence the Online course. We have a secure link for taking payments by Credit Card over the web. We offer real opportunities to join Multi National Companies, large and small networks or even run your own franchise." So from this I assumed that the course materials were included, otherwise how am I meant to "within hours be able to commence the online course"! Yet all you get, is access to a website, telling you which areas of a book to read and highlight. Its madness and they won't give me back my money. I contacted them, and got told they are a reputable company - Hmmm.
