  1. Hello all, This is a great site..........I wish that I had discovered it before attempting to get my "Satisfied" Default removed from my Credit Record. Sorry in advance for the long post especially because it is my first Anyway, I have had a good look through the almost endless posts on "Default Removing" and it does look to be a bit of a minefield to say the least. My story revolves around finding a "Default" recorded against me via the Experian site. The default was against a Personal Loan taken out by my Partner with GE Capital Personal Loans (now called GE Money). Unfortunately the Loan Agreement was jointly signed by myself and I had completely forgotten that I had done so. (The loan was being paid by my partner from her own bank account) The big shock for me was finding out (via the Credit Check) that this Default recorded against me was just the tip of the iceberg and my Partner was in big big trouble with debt run up on Credit Cards (lots of them!) and we only narrowly escaped in "defaulting" on our Mortgage. Needless to say none of these problems were known by me until I questioned the "Default" on my Credit History with my partner after which she came clean - then "the brown stuff" hit the fan! My partner has all but destroyed her "financial credibility" and nearly dragged me down with her. Fortunately we sold our house last year and paid off all of her outstanding debts with equity released from the sale and we are currently living in rented property. So, the above is an overview of my circumstances and as you can imagine I would like to repair the damage to my previously "Very Good" Credit Score which is now "Fair". The reason for trying to remove the "Satisfied Default" (the outstanding balance of the loan was paid off with money from the house sale) is so that I can eventually apply for a new mortgage on my own (my partners Credit Score is now very poor) but with my credit score back to where it was I could hopefully get a "normal mortgage" etc. I have used the "LearnMoney" set of letters to try and get the ball rolling but I have now ground to a halt. As per the "LearnMoney" route, I sent GE Money a letter requesting a statement and a true certified copy of the original "Default Notification" that neither of us received. In other words - "prove it or remove it" etc. I sent them 2 x £1.00 Postal Orders for their trouble and consequently received a letter from them stating when/why the default was issued with a promise of sending a copy of the account statement (no mention of the copy of the default notification though) About 6 weeks later I had no reply so I followed up with another letter requesting the same information etc. I have now received another letter from GE Money stating that "the loan has been settled and no outstanding balance is due or required, furthermore we are no longer obliged to provide the information requested under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and I we have arranged to send you a refund £2.00" They have indeed sent me a cheque for the refund for £2.00............so the question is can I do anything further to get this "Satisfied" removed or have I got to live with it for a further 5 years? Any advice gratefully received.
