  1. Thank you for the daily mail website link - i have taken note but i feel the need to fight here and not sure if thats the right place. We have always maintained a cushion of about £1500 in the bank account in case anything went wrong but this has quite exceeded this and now we have gone over the overdraft too with bills coming out. Is Barclays in the right with this - it makes me feel like we should never go out again and we dont often
  2. Yes we can have a copy of the tape and not much effort they were standing next to him at the bar although the tape does show that they seemed to be interested in what we were doing as they were looking at us at our table afterwards more than perhaps they should have
  3. Hello My husband and i went out last Saturday to a bar in our local area (to celebrate our wedding anniversary) and my husband was paying for drinks and food with his debit card at the bar. There were a couple of guys hanging around the bar area and i commented on them being rather over friendly at the time but didnt think too much of it. We ended up staying after our meal and hubby ordered a few more drinks for the two of us and after a hour or so the two guys came up to the table and were generally chatting and saying well done etc for 18 years of marriage blah blah and again i said to hubby they seem over friendly. Went home and next day went to local garden centre and wanted to buy some bits and found hubby didnt have his bank card, looked for card at home nowhere to be found. Hubby was going to ring Barclays when Barclays fraud squad rang him asking had he taken out £1,000 in cash the night before, £700 in Ladbrookes and nearly £1,300 in online shopping in the early hours. We were lucky enough to know the owner of the bar where we went and were able to view the CCTV which shows one of the guys appearing to take something from hubbys jacket but is unclear and also both of them looking while he put his pin number in while paying. Reported to police the minute Barclays rang. owever Barclays are refusing to refund money as they say husband gave the guys his pin number which he didnt but they were obviously looking while he entereed on paying for drinks. £2300 of this was for our bills and and a bit of saving and the other took all our overdraft. In a pickle now as for the first time in my 38 years our bills are bouncing and have no money in account for mortgage payment. Barclays have just rung us now to say that it is our fault for giving over pin number - which we didnt. Feeling very gutted and sad at the moment and just want to know if there is anything i can do Thank you
  4. Hi all dont know if anyone can help. Have a car insurance policy with 1st Central insurance which i took out beginning of August on a monthly payment basis of £21 per month. I scanned and emailed my proof of previous NCB straight away to them as asked. A couple of weeks after they wrote to tell me that i still had not sent my proof of NCB so i resent the document. Never heard anything from them since but today find that my monthly payment has increase to £42 per month. Tried phoning them today but was just put on hold for an hour each time and then the phone call timed out. It got to the point where my telephone ran out of battery and i still hadnt got through to them. Im guessing they are going to say the reason why my premium has gone up is that i havent sent proof of NCB as this to me is the only that makes sense why the premium has gone up. Have emailed them but dont hold up too much hope of them answering it as they obviously didnt read my first two emails regarding proof of no claims. Can they just up my premium without sending any communication to me and has anyone else had any problems with them. Wish now i hadnt gone with the cheapest quote.
  5. Just dont know where to go from here and have no time - i have to give a month notice to either employer or im in breach of contract so need to do that today more or less as i cannot continue to work both jobs with these new hours. I was also told the minute i set foot into work on the 1st April it would mean that i would be accepting the new terms and conditions and contract.
  6. Hi there has been a consultation for the last few months but between whom i dont really know. We underlings certainly havent been consulted. Also as i mentioned before the unions did not like what the council were doing and pulled out of the consultations. Thing is its all above my head i just work there. We were only told exactly what was happening on Wednesday although rumours have been flying for a couple of months. Changes will be started April 1st although still nothing in writing
  7. just dug my contract out - it states that i work 14 hours a week and what grade im on - it does state tho than i can be deployed to other libraries as and when needed and it doesnt state particular hours that i work. I questioned yesterday fiercly about breach of contract but he basically told me that my new post was considered to be a "similar job" and i should really be grateful to have one. All weekend workers who work 12 - 14 hours per week had their redundancy accepeted as it was considered too much too ask them to come in during the week as they might have other committments!
  8. One other thing i forgot to add - i still have not had in writing that these will be my new hours, pay, conditions etc even though they are starting April 1st - verbally yes written no.
  9. Hi im not in the union but other people who work with me are - the union have not agreed to the conditions the council are implementing but the council are going ahead anyway. The problem is people are not speaking up because they think that because they are a council they couldnt possibly be acting in the wrong way! The unions do not seem to be helping in the slightest and they are still trying to negotiate but this is going to be implemented on April 1st regardless
  10. Hi i have a rather large problem (for me anyway) and wondered if anyone might have any ideas. Been working in my job with local council for 10 years doing 14 hours per week. I also have another seperate job which is 13 hours per week. We have recently had a restructure and i learned i was to be slotted into another post or i could apply for voluntary redundancy My problem is the new post is at 20 hrs per week, different job title and rather than working 2 full days per week the hours will be spread over 5 days a week and just to top it off i am being downgraded by 2 grades = about 1.40 less per hour. I applied for voluntary redundancy and learned yesterday that it was not accepted and that i will be just slotted into this particular post. It now means that i cannot work my second job and i cannot survive monetarily solely on just one job (either of them) so am going to have to give up both jobs and find a full time job which in these climates i know is going to be difficult. My question is can they just do this ie up my hours by 6, downgrade my pay, completely different structure in working hours, change my job title and description and also i will be expected to travel to various locations rather than just the one i am working at at the moment. I have to say i was hoping to get the redundancy as it would have given me a start money wise until i found another job and i also could have continued with second job - now im completely and utterly stuck. Would really appreciate any help anyone could give me on this. Quite a lot of us have been affected by this and to me it seems crazy that they can do this but because its a council we are expected to go along with it.
  11. Would like to add im not heartless and if i could would tell work to forget their job but have been there 9 years, enjoy it and life is not as easy at that
  12. Hi thanks for your replies. I managed to get last week what they call special leave, you can claim 3 days per year which is paid. I took 4 days so 3 paid 1 unpaid. Now any time off is unpaid. Had a word with manager today she is saying that if i go down again, take time off then nothing happens it will be pretty impossible for me to get authorised time off again. Will say didnt really want to put this down in black and white but its not a friend its my dad. Saying it was someone very close to me is easier. Desperate to see him, wish he lived closer to me can get over sundays and mondays but the phone calls seem to come during the week. I would certainly never forgive myself if i wasnt there with him. It doesnt help as his wife (not my mum) seems to constantly be pressing the panic button. I have spoken directly to the doctors at the hospice and they say it will be a matter of time now. It would be impossible for me to go sick as my manager knows too much of what is going on.
  13. Could anyone help please. someone very close to me is in hospital suffering from a brain tumour and it does not look very good for him.My question is that when i asked my work for time off to go and see him as he lives 3 hours away from me and i cannot get there each day the answer was pretty awkward. Noone in this world can guarantee at exactly what time someone is going to pass away and was basically told that if i went down and then he was ok and then i had to do the same thing the next week etc my employers would start to get annoyed with me. In my contract there are clauses for bereavement leave but not for the bit beforehand. Am completely torn what happens if i go to see him, he stays in there and then i ask for more time off to see him next time i get a phone call. i know what my heart wants to do (stuff work)but head is thinking of bills and trouble at work. Had a phone call last week to say i had better come down but he made it through, have just had another phone call to say better come down. Am in a bit of a mess really and dont know what to do. Can my employers keep this on my record or hold it against me in any way.
  14. Hi just wanted to say thanks for your comments. Have decided to just pay up (again) for the fine but have written a stinking letter to go with the fine - which im sure will probably not be read and thrown away but it made me feel a little better.
