  1. people who pull out in front of you (obviously in a hurry) then go really slowly.....people who overtake you slam on the brakes and turn left.........and (same?) people who sit in the outside lane(s) when there is nothing in inside lane(s) chatting to their passengers or on mobile phones BAH HUMBUG!!!
  2. Hi w n w, thanks for your reply. I posted the same query on the link suggested by Scott, (see other reply) and someone whose name escapes me at the moment posted some really useful links including one website which showed how yellow lines should be and the relevent act that covers it. If the lines you parked on don't have a join at the end you definatley have a case. From what I have read on threads on this site you shouldn't pay the fine and then try to appeal as you cant do that with council issued tickets. Mine was issued by the police so has to be dealt with by a magistrates court, should be fun! If the council hadn't have put up the charge from 50p to £3 in the adjacent car park I would probably continued to park there. Best of luck with your one. Regards, Paul
  3. Hi again, my knowledge is quite limited on this but I find it very strange that there is no notification on the ticket anywhere on how to appea! From what I have read on other threads, if you pay the fine (with a council issued ticket) that is the end of the matter and you lose the right of appeal. Maybe contact the enemy (parking dept at your town hall and ask them? Sorry I can't be more helpful but good luck with it. Regards, Paul
  4. Hi Paul and Pat, many thanks, this is exactly what I have been looking for and from what I have seen I should be able to easily challenge this. My only other query is do I simply tear the slip off the bottom of the ticket with my details and send it back (part 3) or do I have to state my reasons when I send it back? Thanks very much for all your help. Regards, Paul
  5. Thanks Scott, I have now done so. Regards, Paul
  6. Hi Everyone, I have received a parking ticket from the police (council take over control in January 2008) for parking on double yellow lines but I believe that they are invalid. My understanding is that all double yellow lines have to be joined at the end, is this correct? Also the ticket was issued from 1400-1402 and I didn't park there until 1500 which I have witnesses to, 2 council employed wardens, believe it or not!! All advice will be gratefully received. Regards, Paul.
  7. Hi, I believe you have a strong case for appeal. I was working in Reading about 18 months ago and remember very similar cases being in the local media where people were parking on a Sunday, when according to the signs there were no restrictions. (sound familiar?) I seem to recall that several people appealed and were sucessful (many of these were people at church) because the signs were misleading and should have stated that restrictions applied on a Sunday. The council tried to argue that because they were silent about Sunday it meant you couldn't park at all!! Sorry I can't provide better info but you should definatly appeal. Good luck! Paul
  8. hi Neil, great work! I have been issued with a police fixed penalty notice for parking on double yellow lines. However the reason I parked there is because the yellow lines are not joined at the end and therefore as I understand it they are not valid. Do you know if this is still correct? Thanks for any advise you can give me. Cheers, Paul
  9. Hi everyone, this is my first posting. Can anyone advise me on the following? I parked yesterday on the public highway somewhere I have frequently parked in the past, which is where the yellow lines are very faded and not joined at the end. My understanding is that double yellow lines must be joined together at both ends. Is this still correct? Seconly the ticket (which was issued by the police who still have responsibility in my borough) stated the incorrect time. The time it was issued I was still at home and can prove what time I arrived at the place I parked. Thanks in advance for any advise you can give.
