  1. i took out a loan 3-4 years go and got ppi, now im self employed and work died up so in feb i cancelled the loan direct debit, since then i asked for a claim form but as i wasnt sighning on i couldnt claim, ive payed off dribs and drabs when i could but it lead to abbeys debt recovery team on my case, and when i spoke tho the woman on the phone she said i shouldnt have been sold the ppi as i was self employed at the time. now i get job seekers i can claim but the loan has not been payed properly for over 6 months and maybe the ppi, can i still claim ? im not sure but i think the ppi was payed up front as part of the loan sum, and if they wont pay on the basis of me not having work being self employed, which ive read that its very hard to get them to pay, do i have a case to cancel and get my monies already paid ? or what can i do ?
  2. im in the process of making a claim for council tax benefit and they have given me a list of things they want so they can sort out the claim, now the thing is they want to see bank statements, now there is stuff that goes out of there that is of a personal nature and i dont want people seeing what i get up to, do i really have to give them bank statements ?
  3. my mate who is a builder was asked by one of our neighbours to give them 1 of 2 quotes to rebuild the wall thet had been knocked down at the front of the house, now his quote was cheaper and the insurance company gave him the job, but gave the monies to the claimant, who now say they are skint so are gonna keep the money, now hes worried that the insurance company has his headded quote from ******** builders and as they have given him the job that they will put his paperwork to the taxman so hes liable for the tax, hes spoken to the people and the said they had spoken to the insurance company and they said it was ok to keep the money and do the job when they want, like a year down the line when they can do it as a cash job, surely this is not right, or is this ok ?

  12. im sure there is somthing in the soga like this (2B) For the purposes of this Act, the quality of goods includes their state and condition and the following (among others) are in appropriate cases aspects of the quality of goods— (a) fitness for all the purposes for which goods of the kind in question are commonly supplied, (b) appearance and finish, © freedom from minor defects, (d) safety, and (e) durability. and as you asked for a stainless exhaust and the welds are not then its not as described either
  13. yep i have to say the work is ****e to say the least and have probably only used steel wire, get a magnet out to see, but stainless wire in the mig would have been more than sufficient, should have got your brother inlaw to weld it, take it back and say what your not happy with, did they fit it or just supply it ?
  14. to be fair you should have got in a structural engineer who would have told you what exactly was needed to take away the load bearing wall, ie steels/lintels/padstones/piers and the like. the builder was clearly out of his depth however and should only be paid for work carried out. i am in the building trade myself and unforseen circumstances do crop up from time to time, i price for work to be carried out but if extra work needs do be done so that i can carry out that work then that is extra work and not in the original price, some time without starting a job you dont know what you will find, say i come to your house an give you a price to put an extra socket in, at this stage i am not going to be lifting floorboards to check anything as usually its very straightforward, however when i come to actually do the job and i find that the cable under the floor is perrished who shall foot the bill for that ? im not stickin up for ya builder as he doesnt seem much of one so take him to court get some of your money back and give the FMB (federation master builders) a call and they can tell you of decent builder in you area, also the building control officer will know a few. good luck hope you get it sorted

  18. Hi we paid £128 that was'nt even for a portfolio, we had to take the photos ourselves and post them on website, which is quite difficult and just wait to hear with Models Direct. When you do hear your so excited that your child/baby has been selected, then nothing happens. They dont seem to do anything. I would like her to be put on another modelling website but not sure want more hassle. Its good to know its not just me in this position.
  19. the pain i have is sort of controlled, the painkillers i have take the edge off it but not stop it completely id say i still have pain, but as i still have to work it doesnt help, also the co-codamol and diclofenac have some unfortunate side affects
  20. i know that this might not help, but does the burner read any discs whatsoever, as i have two burners and whilst both should be able to read all media the one that came with the pc could not read certain makes of disc, ie epro cd-rw but was fine with verbatim items it seems to be the same with my dvd player (for tv) and cd player (hi fi) that i use, but my second dvd/cd burner reads them all, also sometimes you need to have up to date firmware for said burner as sometimes the company that makes the pc might just not update it, so even if you do get a replacement burner it might not be able to read the same certain discs. ive looked into this myself and found that players and burners dont always read/write to certain makes of recordable/re-recordable media, and ive never had a problem with real cds/dvds
  21. this is the letter that my wife has drafted and any help would be great in if its worded ok or do we nedd to ad anthing at this stage ? Dear sir/madam I am writing a letter of complaint to you advised by John Smith of Homebase in Camberley. I bought the St Ives set of garden furniture (table and 4 chairs) on 17 June 2008 for my daughters 1st birthday and my birthday. On Thursday 24 July at around 6.00 p.m my husband (James), myself and my daughter (Daisy) were sitting on the patio after having dinner. After dinner James held Daisy whilst seated in one of your chairs, I went in the kitchen to tidy up. I heard a bang and so I went out, James was walking in the door with Daisy crying and explained what had occurred. Whilst seated, and holding Daisy, all of a sudden the back of the chair snapped causing James to fall back, but thank god the table was in front of him as he was able to catch his foot under the table to break his fall. The table went over and smashed glasses with drink in. Daisy was crying hysterically with shock, and grazed and bruised her arm on the French door. James hurt his back, neck and ankle; my husband was in a lot of shock because what could have happened, more so to our daughter. If the table wasn’t there they could have both fallen back into the glass panel door or frame or if facing another way banged their heads on the patio, which could have been fatal, especially for our daughter. Im sure you will appreciate the situation could have resulted in more severe injury! However, as a result James was in a lot of pain and was forced to go to the doctor’s. His doctor advised him to have 4 days of work because his work is manual. My husband is self-employed so we have now suffered loss of earning’s in addition to the injuries. He is still in a lot of pain and is on pain killers which make him feel awful. To our horror, since then another chair has broken. This happened a couple of days later on the Saturday afternoon. James thought it surely would’nt happen again but it did, however the wooden pole snapped but stayed in the fabric so he did’nt fall right back this time. We have therefore stored these items pending enquiry. All this has been upsetting and inconvenient to say the least. As the first time it happened was the day before my birthday and I had friends coming round the next day, also I was having to make phone calls on my birthday regarding this matter which made me relive the whole awful experience causing further upset and stress. It would be my recommendation that Homebase recall these items with immediate effect, to ensure that others don’t suffer in the same way. In the meantime, I welcome your suggestions for recourse not only to replace our garden furniture, obviously not the sames ones, but also our loss of revenue and emotional impact this has caused my whole family. Yours sincerely
