    Drew v Amex

After everyone, I am looking for a little advice with American Express. I had held an amex card for a number of years, mainly using it for business expenses and the odd personal purchase. like most people i have missed payments and the like or occasions and if i remember right I was paying a payment protection plan with this card (could be wrong though until i find some old statements). I lost my job in March 2005, unfairly dismissed i might add. I was unable to continue paying my card debt off. priorities being food and keeping the roof over the kids heads. I contacted amex and informed them of what had happened. All they were concerned about was there money and nothing else. Anyway after many telephone calls they wouldnt help me out and passed the debt over to a collection agency based in Leeds. I have explained that I was taking my old employer to court for unfair dismissal and i would pay the debt off asap, making a payment of £20 per month in the meantime, but still they passed the debt over to collection. obviously causing the usual stress that comes with it. The debt was paid off eventually when my money came through. since then i have checked my credit report via experian and noticed that it states that it is settled in default or words along those lines. what i really need to know from someone in the know, and what better place to ask than on here, is; what can i do about reclaiming any charges the placed on my account over the period i had the account and, is there anyway i could clear it off my credit report. I know its a lot to ask helpppppppppppppp Andy
  5. sorry also meant to ask, where does one sent it too, what halifax address god i must sound thick / stupid or something
  6. Do i have to state the date period in my letters, or will just go back the 6 years. what, if i want to go back to year dot. the letter template doesnt seem to specify a date period
  7. Can you believe just nipped into town to the Halifax and asked for a cheque to be printed from one of my accounts for £10 to cover the SAR, only for them to tell me that they only print cheques now for over £50, fumming is not the word. told them i didnt have any cheque books for the accounts we hold with them, to be then told well I will have to go to the post office for a postal order. will the halifax accept a postal order for payment of the SAR. arhhhhhhhhhhhh
  8. Morning all after much reading on this site, my head hurts. loads on info to take it. just been reading dusary v bank of scotland. I have decided that I am going to pursue this, hopefully with the good help and guidance from you good people. nudging me along. just one question someone may be able to help me on, if i cannot remember when my accounts were opened exactly, how would i ask for the statements.
  9. I have this problem many times with Halifax. I always try avoid this, but sometimes its difficult when you have various direct debits setup. Especially when they keep changing the days they pay them out. I have actually called the Halifax on a number times to discuss this matter, and have on 2 occasions had this £39 fee wavered. As Roosted stated debits out first thing, credits in last thing. But as a few of you are in the same boat, i have enough of the way I have been treated by the bank since I stared banking with them over 20 years ago. I bed I cannot reclaim all my charges incurred since then. God i would be rich indeed
  10. Hi all, so sorry to interrupt you all, but I just had to say well done to all for pursuing your claims against the big boys. I personnally havent done it as yet, little scared maybe, read all the bad press about them closing peoples accounts down and all. may i actually ask a little question or two. where do you actually start in all this against the halifax, and how far back can you actually go in claiming costs and charges Also, can i claim against credit card (Capital One) companies for things like late payment charges cheers all. Andy
