fuelled from my sucess with HSBC I noticed that Capital One had charged me £12 for paying my cc bill £16 short of the minimum payment (I have now paid up on this). I wrote to capital one requesting the charge be refunded. They have sent me a long letter about how their charges have reduced from £20 to £12 and are fair and that they wont refund the £12 charge. What should I do next? Should I issue a letter before action still? And if I do what do I say in response to them saying that I agreed to charges when opening the account? Any advice appreciated Thank you

Well I think I am finally getting the hang of this forum stuff now and getting over my technophobia . Think I should up date you all and say thank you to forum members who have responded to my queries always posted in the wrong place very helpfully. Well, my claim aganist HSBC was settled in full after their solicitors wrote to me offering to settle at the stage when they issued their defence. The money was in my account after three working days (I have swiftly transfered it out of their bank into another account). Hope this helps folks

Claire78 v HSBC *SETTLED IN FULL*

This is not really a repy so sorry, but I am really new at using forums and can't work out the best way to post. I have tried emailing tech support but get the message that the URL failed.....sor sorry about this but........ I have submitted a MOLC - which has been acknowledged - today got a letter in post from solicitor's offering a full and final settlement of charges plus interest but doesn't inc £120 court fees. From reading the step - by -Step process in FAQ's it looks like I should ignore this and wait for the defense to be submitted. But I am not sure. Can anyone help clarify? Once again sorry for doing this in the wrong place - Can anyone tell me how to start a diary on here? Love and good luck Pen -
Hello advice please I have had a response to my preliminary claim for a refund from HSBC for a full anf final settlement of £800 my claim is for £940.50. The guidance says I should accept this amount but proceed with my claim (I have sent the LBA, they crossed over in the post). Should I include a covering letter when I accept the settlement letting them know that I plan to proceed with a county court claim unless they offer the full amount? Is there a form of words I should use? Have tried to get an answer looking through the forum and FAQ's etc and can't see anything specific. Really don't want to get it wrong. many thanks.

Needing help with bank charges
twirlypen replied to SEETHING OF SYDENHAM's topic in Welcome to the Consumer Forums
I am currently doing my first letter to my bank to reclaim my charges for two current accounts. I am confused by the template letter section I require where I put the cost totals in is this the charges plus the interest I am entitled to be paid back at 8 per cent apr? Or the charges plus, interest charges originally charged by the bank.:? Sorry have been looking at this stuff for days now. Please clarify before I make a fool of my self with the bank. many thanks twirly:)
