I've been a customer with the Northern Bank in N Ireland since '88 and had e-banking for the last 4 or so years so how come when I ask them to provide 2 months of statements (from back in '98 & '99) they send me a letter saying their computerised records don't go back that far - they only go back to 2004 - so I'll have to pay £35 per hour for the priviledge of them trawling through their archaeic paper systems? Anyone else had this problem & is the DPA a way of getting round it? I'm going to be claiming back my bank charges but this particulalr request for info was in rela

    I'm a newbie to this, living in n Ireland, and I'd like to start the process for reclaiming charges from a number of institutions including MBNA, Mint, Abbey & Northern Bank. Can anyone confirm for me before I stick my neck out whether the same rules apply in NI (the reference to English law is a concern as NI can differ in some areas)? Also would I need to amend the standard letters in order to reflect any diffeences in NI law? Thanks
