can you explain anymore about statute barred please anyone.

In january of this year i received a threatening letter from crapquest saying that I owed them 600 odd quid from a debt with amex. I left amex 7 years ago, anyhow I cca'd them ans all i got were dodgy statements from amex....seems that when i left my old address 7 years ago my isp provider AOL didn't cancel the monthly charge ( although we told them to but alas have no proof). Anyhow we sent every bit of dodgy correspondence from capquest to FSO, OFT etc and got welcoming replies. Finally on weds of this week crapquest sent back the cca cheque for a quid with a letter saying 'we are unable to provide you with this information and have passed the matter back to amex. So thats crapquest off my back....now what about amex? Surely they would have realised before 7 years that this monthly charge was not being paid and refuse to pay AOL unless i pay them? Why continue to pay out when clearly for 7 years no-one has paid them? Why didn't they write to me in the 7 years? Any advice anyone?

Hi there Just received a letter from a DCA called Asset recoveries ltd telling me that they are recovering a debt which was assigned by northern rock to fairmile recoveries llp. With it was a letter from northern rock saying that they had sold by way of absolute assignment all interest in my account to fairmile recoveries. Does that mean they have sold the debt to fairmile? Is it worth CCAing fairmile? What is a deed of assignment? Should i just pay, i have no qualms about the debt and i do acknowledge it. Thanks

My statements seem to contain quite a few charges for going overdrawn. There are 14 pound charges plus an interest charge at 29%. Can I claim for either of them?
