  1. Hi there, I am another unfortunate Nationwide customer. As you have found out their moneymaking [problem] is to charge customers outrageous penalties for supposed breaches of their rules. This is the method by which your money becomes their money! If possible I would suggest cancelling what direct debits you can and pay by other means if you are so close to your limit. This would stop further charges and you then control when money is taken from your account instead of the banks .You may also want to consider opening a 'parachute' account with another bank so that Nationwide will not control you
  2. Nationwide have the right to demand immediate repayment of an overdraft at any time.If you paid your income into your account you face the possibility that it could all be used to pay off the overdraft immediately . To be fair they do usually give warning of this but do you want to take the chance? I was recently in this situation and opted for a parachute account which gives me a basic current account with full online access so I can see where I am.They also do Direct Debits and give you debit card for shopping.
  3. I have used MCOL to issue a claim for £2150 unlawful bank charges against the Nationwide and it was acknowleged on 24th May.They say they will defend the claim and so the latest date was 28 days from then for their defence. So was just playing a waiting game.I waited 3 weeks then today they paid in full, charges interest and court fee out of the blue.MCOL say defence in the box instead of acknowlegement. No prizes for guessing the defence.Does anyone know if you have to inform the court about payment?
