  1. Yes I got a lashing on MSE, not really sure why, and then some of my replies removed by admin, I only wanted to know if this is a common issue before I contact BG, I did get onto a chat with an agent and was promised an email by end of day, still not heard anything, I will ring them tomorrow when I have some time off. I have received no bills, I have email statements, which I didn't really bother with because I thought it was all rolling along, the meter was read in October so the balance would be accurate - MSE people seems to think I am trying to not pay or it is somehow my fault that BG haven't sent me a letter or called me. I am not happy that my credit file has been affected, not with missed or late payments but a higher rolling balance
  2. I set up DD with British Gas I think back in early 2019, I have a specific bank account just for all of my direct debits, I transfer money in each month and let it roll on, I don't really examine it so I didn't realise that British gas have not taken any direct debits, I have a larger balance with them than when I set it up, I have had no letters from them but I did find hundreds of emails from them in my spam folder, all the same, basically saying there is a technical error on their side, they couldn't take the DD but all sorted now and they will retry, these are all automated emails by the look of them I now have quite a big balance with them and when I checked my credit file it is on there - no missed payments but a growing balance. I haven.t called them yet, I am going to ring them tomorrow. I am not happy at all, I thought it was being paid just ticking along. This only came to light because I received an email from them the other day that didn't go into spam, saying I have cancelled the DD and I need to contact them. Has anyone ever herd of this happening before?
  3. I was late starting my PPi claims, I honestly thought I never had any. I have now received letters from 3 companies (MBNA, Halifax, Citi) saying I had and they have sent me questionairres to complete and return. Is it advisable to complete these? are there any tips for maximizing my chances of a successful claim? will not returning them delay my claim or go against me? Is there any way of calculating what the possible refund could be? if I knew the card balance and how old the account was? for example if I had a £3500 credit card balance with MBNA 20 years ago? Thank you for your advice.
  4. I have a CCJ on my file which was paid in full a couple of years ago but not showing as satisfied, Who is responsible for updating the record? I know the record will stay there for 6 years, less than 3 years left but am I right in thinking because it shows as owing it will affect my rating?
  5. My wife has received a Parking Charge Notice for a hotel car park, she was meeting a friend in the car park, her friend went into the hotel to use the toilet but that was it. The notice states 38 minutes onsite and has photos of the car. She cant remember seeing any signs on entry but I will check later as its quite local. She never actually left her car, the keys stayed in the ignition and the door remained open, so technically was the car actually "parked" The fee is £100 reduced to £60 if paid by tomorrow. Can anything be done about this?
  6. Sorry for the late response, been at work. How much was the debt when you agreed a payment arrangement with Bristow & Sutor? approx £1200 I am assuming that your repayment agreement is weekly based? Yes How many weekly payments have you missed? 4 Has a visit ever been made to your premises? Yes, once, no mention of fee, just set up a new arrangement, took less than 3 minutes. All conducted on the street. When I spoke to B&S the chap said the arrangement had been cancelled, but I logged in and it was still there just showing arrears, so I made a payment, If the charges are valid then I will just have to pay it, just want to stop them coming to the house
  7. I have a balance from last years council tax which I had been paying Bristow and Sutor on an arrangement but I have missed a few weeks. I have paid about half the debt. Had a call saying full balance due, I explained I cant but no joy really. I called the council and their balance differs by about £200 so I assume its fees. I offered to pay council direct and they said they will accept payment but B&S own the debt. Council cant agree an arrangement. What can I do to stop B&S coming out to the property and do I have to pay their fees? I fully intend to pay what I owe, just a bit stuck for cash. I did tell B&S guy that I wont deal with anyone sent to the house. Any advice appreciated
  8. Thanks for the help, I haven't done it yet, is that on the link in post #91? I don't know the date of my last payment on the Capital One card but it was 2007/2008
  9. it says CALLING CARD A county court bailiff called today in connection with an outstanding debt owed to CABOT FINANCIAL LTD (CAPITAL ONE) A warrant of execution for non-payment of debt to the value of X has been issued. You have failed to pay the above amount as ordered under the notice previously sent to you. Please contact............... If you fail to contact the court or bailiff regarding the outstanding debt, goods can be levied and removed from your property to be sold at public auction. Any cots incurred for the removal and sale of goods will be added to the debt. Do not ignore this notice, Levied goods can be removed in your absence.
  10. I came home today to find a calling card from a bailiff, it actually says Cabot(Capital one) so not citicards or Opus
  11. Long story but I had a lot of things going on with family and health etc. I know I dropped the ball. Is there anything I can do now?
  12. Thanks, I'm sorry or multiple threads. The CCJ was obtained in January This year The last payment I made was in September 2007 The credit card was originally Associates, then Citi and then Opus
  13. I had an old citi cards credit card which at some stage changed to opus. I have not made any payments on this for over 6 years. Cabot gave me a CCJ this year, I have a letter now saying I need to pay within 7 days or bailiffs will be out for goods. I know I was stupid not putting in a defense or response. Can this be statute barred? what do I need to do? Please help
  14. I had a credit card years ago which apparently was moved to OPUS credit card. Cabot have been looking for the balance for years and have given me a CCJ, I have now received a letter stating I need to pay within 7 days or the bailiffs will be out. No payments have been made on this account for over 6 years at least. Can I get this statute barred at this stage? I had been receiving letters and calls stating I owe for an OPUS credit card which I knew I never had one, I told them I never had an OPUS card but as I say it was originally another provider. Please help as I want to avoid bailiffs coming to the house
  15. Bought a Google Nexus 5 phone about 9 months ago from Carphone Warehouse for my son. Recently it developed a fault, bot powering up, or randomly turning off if he could get it to turn on. Did a search and seems there have been lots of issues with this model phone. Took it to the branch where it was purchased and they sent it off for repair, said it would be repaired or replaced with a refurb if it cant be repaired. Looked on the repair tracker today and it states that it it a serious fault, can't be repaired and its not covered by the manufacturers warranty, they then go on to talk about a subsidised upgrade or discount on a new device. It is not on contract and only about 9 months old. As yet I don't know what the serious fault is. Are they trying their luck?
  16. Thanks, I assume there is standard form for set asides. I suppose there is also a fee. Am I against the clock to apply to gt it set aside? Is is possible to claim back all the fees for telephone calls etc?
  17. No I'm not recording the calls, I'm not calling them anymore. I have no way of proving they lied to me.
  18. I received the claim form in January, rang them and they agreed to put hold on it while its being looked into. I didn't acknowledge it or defend it. Today I called BW Legal and they told me to call Welcome and if they will issue a letter saying an agreement was reached and settlement agreed etc they can return it to their client, Lowell, and that it should never have been passed to them, then the CCJ can be quashed. I called Welcome who told me to email a complaint in. I did that to cattles.co.uk email address and received an auto reply saying I should her something in 5 days. Apparently the Lewis Group who I made the agreement with are no longer trading.
  19. When I received it I called BW Legal, told them I had an arrangement years ago for a settlement figure, paid x over the phone and sent a post dated cheque for reduced amount because I had noticed erroneous charges for telephone calls. they said they will investigate this nd be in touch, they said they will pause the claim. Next I hear is the judgement.
  20. Can late payment and telephone charges etc be reclaimed from Welcome finance. I had an issue with them years ago for slapping £10 telephone charge on for calling me 3 days before the repayment was even due, no idea how many times they did this.
  21. Received a judgment against me in the post this morning, this is for the full amount rather than what was agreed years go. Is it too late to dispute? can it be set aide? I didn't send the letters advised as my wife was ill so just too busy looking after her. They want a monthly amount which will take me 2 years to pay even though it is all supposed to be settled.
  22. The actual letter states "If we do not receive a response within the next 14 days, we will continue with action and look to obtain a County Court Judgement against you" Do you mean have I check my credit files? if so then no.
