  1. hi everyone, for around 9years now i've been with Yorkshire Bank holding a current account with them. Over those 9 years i've amassed some penalty charges that were at the time £8 per day! (i didn't have an overdraught at the time and sometimes only went a few pound 'into the red' if sufficent funds were'nt in my account at the time of the bank withdrawing from it. I did try to claim these charges back last year but was unsucsesssful in doing so. I recieved a letter back from yorkshire bank telling me that they stood by their charges and that it would have to goto court if i wanted to precced any further!!! (not realising this was a scare tactic used by the bank i fel hook line and sinker for it and let the matter go) Now after being charged £25 a day for going over my overdraught (by a direct debit...just started new job so haven't been paid for past 5weeks, so don't have any funds in place to clear the charges to bring my account back upto date) i want to go about trying to reclaim the charges the bank has imposed on my account. Now i can understand WHY i've been charged by the bank but just can't get my head round HOW much their charge. I mean £25 is just a scandellous amount to charge. How can it go from £8-£25 a day? So the advice i'm looking for really is how to go about this matter in the correct way. Are they template letters i can use....where do i get them from? and also can i still actually claim the charges back? (point referring to a test case by the OFT recently- not sure of the outcome) Even a step by step guide would be really handy. thanks ever so much in advance for your help. i'll keep an update of things as they go.
