  1. Hello, I have been receiving calls for about 3 months now from a company called HFO. They claim my brother, who doesn't live at this address any more, has a mobile phone bill from 3-4 years ago. They have taken to calling at least twice a day. I do know they have breached the Data Protection Act by discussing his case with my Mum and me. They even asked me to pay the bill otherwise he would be taken to court. This is something they have been saying since July. I have asked them not to ring here and they said that unless I gave my brother's contact number, they would continue to call us on the home number. My mother is 75 and these calls are really getting her down. We've been with TPS for 6 years now, but that's mainly for sales stuff. We've also registered with Silent Call Guard (svce starts tomorrow night). Information Commissioners Office have said to write to said company (I've managed to get a number + address from them) stating what breaches they have made. I've also asked BT for a 28-day free "choose to refuse" (barring certain numbers, including withheld but NOT international). The thing is, with the latter, the call centre is in India but the contact number is a UK one with an address in Croydon. Can anyone advise/help on how we can stop these people from ringing us? Oh, we have tried - since yesterday - answering the phone, putting it down and letting them listen to nothing/the vaccuum cleaner/etc. Thanks
  2. Hello All, Have received an offer from HSBC in 'full and final settlement' but obviously not for the full amount (just over half of what I asked; not in thousands but in hundreds). Now, the question is this: is it worth persevering, this all started in April this year and we're now July. They have obviously taken their time, things were not helped with my having to go away quite a bit for work. I'm at my wits' end and I have until 18 July to reply to them..... Many thanks for ideas/advice, Regards and good luck to you all, Rekha
  3. Well, after about 30 min waiting to go up the queue on the phone, I got through to someone at their Leeds office (service quality dept) and told her why I was ringing; i.e. will you settle in full today? I was informed by her that the FSA has given all banks 8 weeks to reply to refund of charges letters. I told her I knew that this was not the case, that this scale of time was an industry-agreed one. I asked twice whether HSBC was going to settle in full, twice told No, not until 8 weeks is up. Here's the sequence of events: 1) Posted letter on 29 March 2007 to my local branch Manager 2) They received it 30 March 2007 3) They sent me a letter, from Leeds, thanking me for my letter of 2nd April. (so I sent a letter 3 days BEFORE I wrote it...hmmm....) 4) I gave more than 14 days (taking Easter into account) and rang them today, 27 April 2007. So, the LBA will be winging its way to Mr Colin Langdale, Senior Service Quality Manager. Unless someone has better information on the way forward
  4. Hi PPMAN159, Yes, what you say is true but it's now been about 30 min. Godiva
  5. Hello All, Just joined today, on my brother's recommendation. I'm with HSBC. Sent them a letter dated 29 March 2007 which they state is actually dated 2 April 2007. Anyway, I am waiting in a queue to speak to the Senior Service Quality Officer. Obviously, they might give you back all or some of the money owed, but they get it back by making you wait AGES on the line..... Good luck to you all in your endeavours, Godiva
