  1. Hmm yes, I think you're right. Well I had everything in place to go ahead and do this so I guess it's a job for tomorrow morning. Fortunately having spent many years in debt (and the reason why these charges have accrued) I was waiting to spend it on something, rather than having spent it in anticipation of it coming Must have learned a lesson somewhere along the line!
  2. Dear fellow CAG'ers. A bit of advice. I'd been holding off court action after my LBA as I called NatWest and they gave me an indication that they were prepared to settle the charges part of my claim and would get me a letter 'within 4 weeks'. This never arrived, and a second call to them indicated they would 'resend' this letter (yeah right) within 2 weeks. Now with the OFT test case.. I am thinking I should just have stuck with my original plan and filed in court. In the light of todays news what's my best plan of action? File or continue waiting for my letter? I'm very sad, as I've kind of been relying on this money coming in for some time and now I can see it might be years before I get it
  3. Hi all, I submitted my 'preliminary approach' letter to my branch - the 14 days have expired (17 days now, and I wish to be getting on with my LBA tomorrow). Can someone confirm the LBA should go to: NatWest Customer Relations 225 Shenley Road Borehamwood Hertfordshire WD6 1BR What I'd really like to know is whether the fact I sent my preliminary approach for payment to my branch rather than this address going to cause me any problems? All I've had from NatWest is a big fat silence..
  4. OK so I was worried about the interest calculation aspects of the complex spreadsheets. The error I had made was to write the dates in non-numerical format. My spreadsheet had 31st March 2001 instead of 31/3/01 all the way through. This was what was messing up the calculations!
  5. I hate to bump this myself, but maybe I didn't post it at the best time yesterday. I could really use a second pair of eyes on the spreadsheet cheers!
  6. Hi all, I've been following this board with great interest and have done my 'poring over statements' bit. I now want to write my first letter of approach to NatWest regarding the charges. I have used the 'complex' template to keep track of the charges, and the interest on the charges, but the interest section looks completely bizarre to me. I know it's only an estimate, but it seems likely that it's going to be skewed badly by the fact my payday falls on the last day of the month - putting me into credit the day the interest is taken out. What I would really like (at this stage!) is for someone to eyeball the excel file for me (no identifying information is in there) and just tell me I've filled it out correctly! I work with Excel every day, but cannot claim any kind of proficiency with it and without seeing what all the columns are doing in the spreadsheet I have no idea how it's deriving it's figures, and no idea why the 3rd workbook is broken (not that I intend to use it just yet) - hence my reluctance to shoot it off to the bank 'as is'. Comments would be very welcome The spreadsheet can be whipped from: http://eridanus.net/kurioz.xls
  7. So I just thought I would share this, it's probably been said before but I haven't got the time to trawl many pages of forums! I sent my 'stage 1' letter requesting a breakdown of charges and/or statements to Natwest a couple of weeks ago. Rather than including a £10 cheque/bankers draft, I merely included a statement to the effect that if charges were incurred in processing the request I authorised them to debit the named account. Currently I'm sat here with a thick wodge of statements (6 years of financial misery to relive ) and no charge on my account for their arrival. Just thought I'd share.. there will be a kurioz vs NatWest thread in the next couple of days I suspect!
