  1. @locutus - indeed I shall be and, yes, it mostly rains in Escrick lol
  2. More for other's amusement really as I am quite happy to lead them on a merry dance but it's a sad reflection on any company... So, I have a contract mobile 'phone and it occurs to me that I'm spending about 25 quid a month and 99% of the time people call me. Not good value then Okay, can't be that hard to cancel shirley? Called O2 and they said yep, no problem we'll send the final bill in about a month so I cancelled the direct debit. Nowt came. Then a final demand came so I wrote back saying but you still haven't told me whether this is the final bill? They sent me an ex
  3. I am, my partner persuaded me it was the best option
  4. Digging the paperwork out and it's more like 25k (15k loan and two lots of 5k on credit cards). I know I'm responsible but there's no way I can pay this back - any suggestions and I would be grateful.
  5. I don't think they do but my partner may have added to the debt without my knowledge. Where can I get information about a Debt Relief Order? Thanks for the quick reply by the way
  6. When I was with my partner we took out a loan (£10,000), our income reduced dramatically and we took on an IVA but couldn't pay the minimum amount so stopped paying - I know, bad idea. My partner left me a year ago and I'm on benefits now as I cannot work. I'm being chased for the IVA payments but I have no money to pay them. I'm thinking of declaring myself bankrupt - well, I pretty much am anyway. There's no way I can even think about paying anything off... I feel guilty about it but I have a young family to bring up - I never want credit again and I'm not sure what's the best
  7. Just spent some time reading this thread - it's great! It's important that, as well as getting sound advice, there's somewhere that you can get a laugh too... Couple of years ago had some problems with BT who dumped me in the lap of Credit Solutions. After putting up with their calls for a few months I lost patience and resorted to this: CS: Can I speak to Mr ... Me: Certainly. Can I have your Authorised Caller ID please? CS: Excuse me? Me: Your Authorised Caller ID so I can take you through security... CS: Er, I don't have that information Me: I'll send you an application
  8. It's been suggested that I re-post in this area as it's more a general debt issue... In March 2005 a BT Directories sales rep. called and as a result we ordered an entry in the telephone directory. We pointed out that receipt of proofs in sufficiently timely manner as to allow any required changes was fundamental and we would not go ahead without these. This was verbally agreed. The artwork was sent and a confirmation e-mail received stating proofs should be with us in 4-5 weeks. They never arrived despite much prompting. The order was cancelled by e-mailling the contact given to us by th
  9. Thanks to all for your prompt replies. I've checked all the suggested links and they contain useful information but the issue we have seems substantially different. A quick summary might help point us in the right direction: In March 2005 a BT Directories sales rep. called and as a result we ordered an entry in the telephone directory. We pointed out that receipt of proofs in sufficiently timely manner as to allow any required changes was fundamental and we would not go ahead without these. This was verbally agreed. 10. Hello all. Not sure if this is the right place for this so I'll ask the question before launching into a detailed account. Aaland is a small family business disputing a debt with BT Directories. We are not a rich business and can't afford to throw solicitors at this. Credit Solutions are now involved giving us grief on the telephone regularly. Is this something that would be of interest, possibly helpful, to members? Would you be prepared to advise us?
