  3. Thanks Trucker....joint account...didn't think of that!!
  4. Hi Trucker My problems stem from being made redundant in 2003. I was earning 25k a year then. Now I earn 18k. Not being able to handle my finances since the redundancy has led to where I am now. So, I am earning over the 15.5k threshold, but still in trouble. Thanks for your mail. Great to know you good people are out there.
  5. Thanks for the kind replies dar£n and oneofakind. I have now been in touch with the CAB and have arranged an interview. I have had a quick look at the letters mentioned in dar£n mail. Will look at them in more depth later. Thanks again giz
  6. Hi Everyone I have an account that I havn't used in ages. Just before Christmas I got a few letters about the account but as I didn't use it I ignored them. The account has subsequently gone to £700 in the red. A few months ago I received a call from them in which a temporary monthly payment of £50 was agreed in order to try to clear the arrears. I received a call today saying the temporary timescale has expired and now they want me to either pay the whole amount or increase the payment to £60. My wife is off work quite ill and I am working as many hours as I can to keep us going. I ca
  7. Hi Everyone I asked a question about the chat room regarding when it would be up and running again. Well I received an E-mail today from another consumer issues site similar to this one, asking me to join their chat room. I will not paste the link. Sounds to me like Ambulance Chasing, hence the header for this thread. I am a CAGGER through and through!! But a lot of people will leave here for pastures new, so could someone please assure us/ inform us whats happening? Is the chat room dead for ever :? giz
  8. Just to make sure that I have followed procedure, I have waited until the 14 days have expired as stated in the prelim letter before sending off the LBA. Even though I got a reply to the prelim letter before the 14 day deadline was up, I thought I would wait so as to give Barclays the full time allowed. They cant say that I have pre-empted any move they may have made to repay the charges. (Fat chance). The LBA was posted yesterday and I have included the date when the 14 days are up, after which time I will be filing my claim.
  9. Hi reesdance1 I received exactly the same letter last week. I have followed the steps as detailed on this site, now an LBA is on its way stating that I am disappointed with the delay in repayment......because that is exactly what it is....and they now have 14 days to respond or I take them to court. Remember, your timetable, not theirs. giz
  10. Hope you don't mind me posting my favourite Churchill quote: Churchill v Lady Aster Lady Aster: Winston, you are drunk Churchill: Yes, and you are ugly. But in the morning I will be sober. Gotta be the best put down ever... giz
  11. Churchill said it best "Never in the history of the fabulous CAG chatroom, has so much been spoiled for so many by so few in such a short space of time for so little gain. Never again will the yoke of mis-placed trust deny our fingers their right to type to our friends at any hour of the morning...we will type to our friends, we will type to those strangers who are yet to become friends and we will type just to make ourselves heard above the oppressive financial institutions.......we will defend our CAG whatever the cost may be. We will never stop cagging!!"
  12. Hello again Bezrez (got your name right this time ) I have received my reply from the bank so you should be getting yours soon. I got the ' we are looking into it' story. Let me know how you get on.
  13. Well, received a reply today....They say they are investigating my claim and aim to find a solution within 4 weeks. A full report or update on their progress progress will be sent to me within 8 weeks. What a pity they dont give me the same generous terms when I go over my overdraft by a few days and instead charge me to the hilt. My timetable, not theirs...... Next stop, LBA
  14. Hi Berez I am at the same stage as you. I have sent my prelim letter with the following columns 1) the type of charge ( unpaids out, paid referrals) 2) amount 3) date of charge I just used the spreadsheet on this site. I sent it recorded delivery so that I have proof of posting it should there be any quibbles. Now we just have to wait until the 14 days are up for them to respond. Then we send a LBA informing them that we will take them to court if they dont pay. I intend to include a paragraph on 'wasted costs' to let them know I am aware of the strategy they use
