  1. Hiya I'd say about 5 weeks, shouldn't be too long now. Did you claim for notified fees? I'd say the bank won't refund them, and the ombudsman won't go for them based on my case. Further good news is that I've just spoken to the local branch who have refunded £57 of fees applied this month, and increased my overdraft Good luck! J
  2. Success! Had a letter from the Financial Ombudsman this morning, Bank of Ireland have settled in full rather than be investigated. £757.50 (my original claim was for £673.50 but by the time I went to the ombudsman they had applied some more fees, which I was also able to claim). Slippery customers though - they claimed that I 'double counted' some fees (in which case they had 'double charged' me); and also stated that some charges I had claimed were services, viz: notified fees, and wouldn't pay them. In fact I hadn't claimed any notified fees, just 'referral items'. An interesting point, though for anyone thinking of claiming notified fees, is that the ombudsman agreed with the bank's position, as they were 'levied in accordance with the bank's published tariff'.

  4. VBOI well done on getting back some of your money-I've reached the stage now where I need to progress either to the Ombudsman, or court. Sounds like BOI are prepared to go to the expense of getting a solicitor on the case, and defending themselves rather than settling before a hearing. Perhaps I should go down the Ombudsman route and cut out the 'Old Boys network'. Any suggestions? Thanks for all help so far.
  5. thanks for the support folks - keep in touch. I'll let you know how I'm getting on
  6. Hi There, I've just had a reply from BOI offering me £250 - I'm claiming £675, want the lot. Just sent LBA today. I'll be interested to see how you get on, let's keep in touch. Cheers, J
  7. Hi folks I'm claiming £673 from BOI, they sent me a letter yesterday offering £250 (with a confidentiality clause), I'm going to plough on.
  8. Well here we go... I claimed £673 from bank of Ireland, who have just made me an offer for £250 - I'm not going to accept that. On to the next step. Anybody else had a claim against Bank of Ireland? please let me know I'd love to hear from ye.
