  1. The spreadsheet worked out that the overdraft interest was £50.09. Do you think this isn't right then? You've got me worried now!
  2. I have also just sent an SAR letter for my Lloyds Trustcard account to see if they owe me any money too, may as well go for the lot, hey?!
  3. I received my list of charges for the last 6 years and my total claim is for £600.09 including o/draft interest. I have to admit it took me a while to figure it all out with the spreadsheets etc (Maths never was my strong point) but i felt such a sense of achievement when i put the letter in the post because i feel like i have actually taken control of my finances! So i sent my letter off yesterday and am now just waiting for my response! I just hope this one goes as easy as my Barclays claim for £175 - it was easy peasy! Suffgirl
  4. Thanks CAG, i get what you are saying, i suppose i'm just hoping that the Lloyds one will be as easy as this one has been. I'll definitely look to get the whole lot back
  5. Hey, thanks to all of you above for your info. I telephoned MCOL and they just stopped the claim, it was done instantly and v easily. I feel really good that i got this money back - even without the £30 costs and anyway what's £30 at the end of the day - not many white wine spritzers at the races that's for sure! I received a letter in the post from Barclays today which confirms that this is a full and final settlement and that the £175 is goodwill gesture etc. But the above comment by CAGisforME has got me thinking, when i request my money back from Lloyds should i ask for £500 in the hope that they will pay out without a fight or go for the full £620..? :o Suffgirl x
  6. Ok , well i've been reading loads of other threads and although they all say to keep going right until the end, i can't help but think that they have paid me back the exact amount they own me. So they haven't paid me the interest and obviously i'm out of pocket £30 for the court costs but other than that this is money that i didn't even know i was owed... And £145 would come in really handy - Newmarket Races on Saturday I haven't actually received any correspondance from Barclays re this money that is in my account yet, though i suspect i will. How do i go about cancelling my claim with Moneyclaim.com..???? Suffgirl
  7. Ok, so now i need some advice. I checked my Barclays bank account today and surprise, surprise they have put £175 in my account as a goodwill gesture. So now what do i do..? £175 is the amount that they owe me without interest and obviously without the £30 Moneyclaim.com court costs. HELP!!!! Do i carry on with my claim in the hope that i get the whole £198 back plus costs or accept this offer... I'm guessing i ignore the goodwill gesture, but i would like some advice from you more knowing people out there Thanks everso
  8. Before i even knew about the whole claiming back bank charges thing, i realised that the last couple of years i had been paying £5 a month for mobile phone insurance, breakdown cover and other things that i didn;t need or want!! I asked in the bank and they said just send a letter in to say that you want this cancelled. Which is what i did, basically saying that i had never needed this service and didn't know i was paying for it (along with a request to reduce my overdraft). But i didn't ask for it back because i never imagined i could have it back - STUPID!! However i sent it in to their complaints dept and the next thing i knew is they had put £97 into my bank account - i was so chuffed and i realise that it may not be quite what they technically owe me but as i didn't even ask for it back i was so pleased I'm now doing the whole bank charges thing and i hope i'm a bit more aware!
  9. Well suprise, suprise they didn't reply so i have started my claim via Moneyclaim.com and have 12 days to go! I feel a bit nervous about it but i guess i'll just wait and see
  10. Thanks a lot - i will do don't worry!
  11. Hello everyone, i'm a bit new to this but i thought i'd let you know whats happening with me. When i started looking into this bank reclaiming thing i was really only going to concentrate on an old account i had with Lloyds but then i realised i'd been charged £175 by Barclays. I sent my first letter off and they responded yesterday with a blah blah letter about dealing with your complaint etc. I have responded with a letter to say that i am taking them to court etc and they have another 14 days, so countdown is on to see if they pay up. I'll let you all know..
  12. Hi all, Well i have sent my letter off to Lloyds requesting my last 6 years of statements because back in the day when i was excessively bad with my spending etc i don't seem to have kept them all for some reason!! Anyway, here's waiting to see if they respond, they've got until 29/04/07.. I'll let you know how i get on
  13. Hi all, Well i stumbled upon this site by accident really and i can't how much i've learnt! I've just kick started the process of reclaiming back my bank charges and i'm quite excited to see what happens. I'll keep you all updated and thanks for such a valuable source of info.
