  1. hi guys i opted for sky broadband back in april 2007 because they were offering skybroadband for a one-off fee of £40.00 with no subscription monthly charge. i receved a letter off sky yesterday informing me that they have made changes to their broadband prices therefore i will now be billed a fee every month. i rang sky customer services and was informed that they are amending their terms and conditions from march 2009, i explained that the reason i signed to their broadband was the one-off payment offer they had at the time. i arranged this through their website and was never emailed or recieved the t&c with the wireless router. oh when i rang them i was told that if i joined them with their 'sky-talk' package the broadband monthly fee would be waive any advice guys? cheers
  2. hi all i purchased a cycle from a major retailer a week ago, it is advertised as 'half price' of £99.99 previous in store price £199.99. the small print on the leaflet states savings compared to autum/winter 2008 catalogue unless otherwise stated. however i was browsing throu the xmas book of a different retailer and came across the exact cycle- make details of bike etc priced at £109.99. i know i bought this cycle for £99.99 i thought it was a real bargain at half price but i feel that i have been conned. their current catalogue does not have this particular cycle in it so i rang customer services and asked for the dates that this cycle have been advertised at full price of £199.99, i was informed that it was 17/09/08 till 20/01/09, when i explained that that is incorrect as i bought one recently for £99.99 the advisor couldnt give me a definate date when it was advertised at £199.99. i am thinking of going to my local trading standards office as i really feel that this retailer is false advertising their prices. what do guys think? cheers
  3. hi guys sent off a bog off letter to credit resource as advised by '42 man'( thanks it made me laugh no end), heard no more until today and low and behold still no credit agreement from them but a letter that ''advises the debt is from an account opened in 'date quoted' and closed in 'date quoted', it goes on to say -''hopefully this will resolve any queries you may have. please call 0870 xxx xxxx to arrange immediate payment. are they for real or what!!!, whereas a year or so ago i would have paid it immediately without a fuss, now thanks the the fantastic people on this site i know my rights. i could kick myself sometimes that i didnt find this site sooner as about 3 years ago when going through bad time with partner( know what it's like-split up no income coming in) a few of my debts were passed to DCA's and i paid them all, every single penny which was just over £2500. but as they saying goes ''hindsight is a marvellous thing''. rightio back to credit resource, got another letter printed out ready to post again stating they have failed to provide the said agreement within timescale ( it's now been over 10 weeks since my request for agreement) and that i intend to report them to the revelant regulatory authorities as they have shown gross incompetence by clearly ignoring the law. got that off me chest now feel slightly better. cheers guys bev
  4. hi guys CCA letter was sent recorded. i assume they have the same group of people working at this office as they do on HSBC telephone banking, as they obviously dont understand plain english. cheers bev
  5. hi guys sent off my CCA letter the recieved it on the 2nd may 08. recieved a letter from MCS dated 27 april 08 stating 'intend to instrust DG solicitors to issue legal proceedings and apply for a charging order'. today letter off them 'thanking me for my recent payment of £1.00 on the 2nd may 08, whilst this indicates your intention to repay this debt we do not appear to have a firm committment in the form of a repayment plan'. i have no CCJ against me for this 'debt' so i believe they are unable to apply for a charging order at the moment. but what i bloody cheek- the CCA letter was quite clear(used template one) so do i assume they havent got the credit agreement and are trying to scare me into paying or write again stating my letter was requesting the credit agreement and if they read letter correctly they would know the £1.00 payment was for that. many thanks bev
  6. hi guys many thanks you are all super duper!!!! letter be in post tomorrow! bev
  7. hi guys sent a CCA letter to credit resource they signed for it on 03/03/08, and low and behold they haven't responded, (the calender month after was on 19/04/08). today recieved letter from scotcall for same 'alleged debt' dated 25/04/08, should i CCA scotcall or write to them stating about CCA to credit resource-not replied too, also credit resource have not informed me of passing this over to scotcall. cheers bev
  8. thanks!! not sure if any charges have been applied, i'll send off a CCA, but feel a tad cheeky doing it as i've been paying loan every month until jan this year!! cheers bev
  9. hi guys took out a loan in jan 05 with HSBC, due to OH financial status, payments fall solely on me, the last payment made to HSBC was jan 08. today i received a letter from Metropolitan collections acting for HSBC dated 17 april (but postmark stamped 23 april) giving me 7 days to reply!!!!!! which is today- typical in it. the amount is for a few thousand, at the moment i am not in a position to pay the original monthly payment. should i CCA metropolitan first and go from there or write with an offer of payment? cheers guys bev
  10. hi guys was wondering if you were made bankrupt by a DCA and later discovered that charges( late payment etc) were applied to the account/debt, is it possible to annual, as the 'total debt owed' included penalty charges? many thanks
  11. hi guys after reading thru other threads i decided to look at the PPI i have with a secured loan ( i stupidly signed for in 2005). anyhow looking over the policy i note its lasts for 5 years- the loan term is double that. the PPI premium was added to loan amount which now i know you(thanks to this site) also pay interest on it i wasnt told this when i took out PPI. it also states monthly benefit upto maximum of £1500.00 but does not state how many months this will apply for. if i knew then what i know now theres no way i would have taken out PPI with loan company. would i be able to ask for a refund on PPI? cheers
  12. hi guys just wondering if someone was made bankrupt for a credit card debt, and charges(late payment etc) were applied onto account, would this have any affect on the bankruptcy order made? cheers
  13. hi guys i have a joint bank loan which is due to be fully paid by end of feb 09, but due to my OH financial sitution, the loan repayments now fall soley on me, i have recieved an I&E from bank to complete and return. it would be less of a burden on my finances at the moment if bank would accept less than the original monthly repayment. i am obligied to complete their I&E or can i send my own I&E detailing current sitution. any advice from others who were/are in same boat would be greatly appreciated . P.S. it's a HSBC loan cheers
  14. thanks for your replies, my hourly rate is the same as previous job the FANTASTIC minimum wage!! my hours are also the same as old job. i'll send a letter explaining why i believe the 'overpayment' is unjust and go from there, i got nowt to loose by doing this so. thanks again
  15. hi guys i left my previous job and started the following day with a new employer, i didint inform HMRC as i read through the guidence notes etc they send with award notices, it stated if you stop working or your working hours increase/decrease you need to notify them within 3 months, as it didnt state (or i mis seen) in guidence notes about changing jobs. i left previous job on a tuesday and started with current employer next day, my hours are the same as previous job, so that week my working hours were my 'normal' . when i recieved my award for the following tax year it stated an overpayment which they would collect back over the year, i rang helpline to query the overpayment as was told it was because i didint infrom them of change of employer and 3 months had passed. i stated that the guidence notes only mentioned if you stop working or a change to working hours then you need to inform them, i explained that i finished on a tuesday and started with new employer the following day so i havent stop working and my hours are the same so that week i did work my usual hours. does anyone know if you have to inform them of change of employer even though your working hours remain the same? many thanks
