  3. I have dealt with HFC a couple of times and i have some advice; Firstly you are often taking out a plan to repay over a large amount of time such as 48 months, only 6 or 9 months of this will be interest free, the amount you are paying off is often very low each month because of this and you need to make extra payments if you want to pay it off before the interest kicks in. personally i currently have an xbox brought from currys which cost around £350, the direct debit is only set up to take £12 per month which is tiny so i set up a standing order for a further £70 per month, meaning i pay off £82 a month and clear it within the 6 months. (to set up a standing order use the sort code and account number on the paper work from hfc). Also I would try to get them to knock at least £19 from the cost of the goods when you buy them because this is the admin fee you will get charged when you make your final payment, not exactly interest free hey? In my experience hfc is not that bad a company, you just need to be clued up as to what to pay each month and just like a credit card, dont ever just pay the minimum off each month EVER!!!.
  4. t-mobile paid up after i wrote a letter saying the charges were unlawful.
  5. sent t-mobile a letter similar to the bank templates asking for mine to be refunded because they were unlawful etc. got a phone call today saying they were refunding them becuase "i had been a good payer and it was the first time". I took this is an excuse for them having to pay out before things get serious, she said it was a one off and if i failed to pay a dd again then they would charge- i replied that if they charged me again they would get the same letter! Anyway my advice would be to write to them.
  6. just got off the phone to tmobile, all they kept saying was that i had signed the contract and that i was bound to it. I actually spent about 10 minutes explaining how if the contract was unlawful then it didnt mean anything, the guy couldnt get his head round it and he was in some sort of position of authority. going to write a letter instead im getting fed up or the droids on the tmobile phonelines.
  7. Before joining the site i had been stung by a £23 for an unpaid direct debit from t-mobile. Now i have joined and done a bit of reading round i intend to claim this back-along with the bank charges curtosy of Lloyds TSB. Along with the £23 from tmobile i also got the usual £40 from Lloyds: a total of £63 for a £30 phone bill! Rang them up today and the guy on the phone just didnt have a clue how to respond to my suggestion that the charges were unlawful. he gave me some spiel about the contract i had signed agreeing to the charges, to which i said that if it was an unlawful contract i signed then it was not valid anyway! I was told that someone would get back to me within 3 hours-that passed 10 minutes ago. I would strongly recommend against joining tmobile, although from what ive read they (phone companies) all seem to be as bad as each other.
  8. my insurance company have assured me that even if they are unsuccesful i will not be obligated to make a claim against my insurance and will not lose any no claims bonus. i think this is the best result i could have hoped for-lets just hope i have some success.
  9. Going to give it one last go, already had a letter written so i might as well give them one last chance.
  10. I work for a builders merchants who deal in both trade and diy and the service you have recieved is completely unnaceptable. At the end of the day you shouldnt have to wait for their mistake, give them a reasonable date to get the parts to you the 20th of may is ridiculous. If they cannot give you a reasonable date tell them to forget it, say you want to return the goods because they were not as described and you want a lorry to come out and collect the kitchen (even better if you paid by credit card because you can threaten to request your credit card company to withold payment) most managers wont want to miss out on a two grand sale-i certainly wouldnt. Make sure you speak to the manager of the store, go above his head if he is not helping, ask him his regional directors contact details (essentially his boss) he wont like this either-all tips to swing things in your favour. hope these help, regards Ross
  11. I agree that they're not immune and the points about personal injury claims are valid but in a way thats part of whats annoying me. A more dishonest person might have claimed injury from the accident (granted there are many valid injury claims but there are also many dubious ones) but i have never tried to do this. i consider myself to be an honest decent person who is just looking to repair the damage to my car which i feel was caused by someone else's negligence nothing more nothing less.
  12. hi and thanks for all the helpful support. Today i spoke to my insurance company and made it clear that i was looking to persue the case even if my chances were poor. They were actually more helpful this time and said that i could persue legal action and not have to make a claim even if i was found to be at fault. I am going to write a further letter to the council explaining my intentions to take legal action-this is my last attempt to get them to pay up before it goes through the legal team at my insurance company. I will keep you updated on what happens with the case but thanks to anyone who has posted on it, only just started using the site but already finding it extremely useful. Regards, Ross
  13. the amount of my claim is £450, which was a quote given by a vauxhall dealership. Regards Ross
  14. Hi, im currently into my fourth month of a dispute between myself and leicestershire county council regarding an accident which damaged my car. Basically to cut a long story short, i hit a plastic bollard which had been pushed into the road by a lorry exiting a building site opposite. It was dark and the bollard was free of reflectors which are apparently a legal requirement ( i have photographic evidence of the bollards free of reflectors ). the accident broke my front bumper, i went down all the official routes of getting the repair work quoted-having a council representative inspect the vehicle etc. But as i suspected the council have denied liability, i have written two further letters contesting this but I'm just getting standard replies and not being taken seriously. The only way to resolve this situation seems to be with legal action, my insurance company say i'm unlikely to win as the courts and the councils are in each others pockets so to speak. I feel stuck, i want to stick to my guns and not pay out of my own pocket because i dont think its my fault. But on the other hand i dont want to take it to court if i'm wasting my time. If anyone has any advice for me it would be GREATLY appreciated. Regards Ross
