  2. UPDATE: After receiving the letter asking for detailed charges and when they were made I sent a reply with the charges and gave them another 7 days. Am now writing the second letter and will keep this updated. Jon
  3. Hi, I've had this same problem. When I was a student four years ago and had a student account (CHARGE FREE), they didn't let me go over my limit. Now they'll allow me to withdraw any amount from any machine even when I'm over. Had no letter or notice telling me this either!
  4. They have ZERO days left, it arrived just in time. I'm not a fan of allowing them to draw this out, hence asking for everyones advice!
  5. HI, Received a reply to my "Preliminary approach for repayment" letter from the bank on Saturday: What would you advise I do now, send the same letter with the details of the charges and a witty note about how they should have been able to work them out, or send the second letter and give them just another 14 days before action? Note: I have also since been refunded £125 after a meeting with my business manager, who said that was all she could do.
  6. Doh.. sorry I looked there too! Thanks!
  7. Where can I find the step by step guide? Thanks, Jon
  8. UPDATE: I had a meeting with my business manager (I also have a business account with HSBC) and I brought this up. She spoke to the manager and the removed a further pending charge of £125, but said they couldn't refund any of the past ones. Interesting that they just removed it though. Will be completing the relevant forms and attempting to get the rest back ASAP. Will keep you informed. Regards, Jon
  9. I've been through all my statements previous to these. I had a graduate/student bank account and they didn't charge me. Cheers for the replies. Jon
  10. I've read the FAQ and lots of other information today, but just want opinions. Today I noticed a £125 on my statement and phoned the bank to enquire about it. I was told it was because I went overdrawn and then further payments were taking out over the next few days and £25's added. Apparently it should have been £150, but there's a £125 limit. Nice. I'm useless with keeping track of my account and so generally unaware that I don't have the funds, however since the ATM's & Switch machines let me (i remember when they didn't) the cash is taken anyway. After seeing this £125 today I've looked back and have noticed these charges everywhere. In summary: 02/03/2006 - £125.00 30/12/2005 - £50.00 30/11/2005 - £12.00 30/08/2005 - £100.00 30/07/2005 - £100.00 30/06/2005 - £60.00 30/04/2005 - £60.00 30/03/2005 - £40.00 30/01/2005 - £40.00 30/12/2004 - £54.00 30/11/2004 - £18.00 30/10/2004 - £36.00 30/09/2004 - £54.00 30/08/2004 - £54.00 All are overdraft charges (though I'm not sure what the £12 is for!) I aware I could keep track of my finances better and so am dubious I still have a case, do I? Thanks for your advice. Jon
  11. Hi Kashume, I'm new here too, but after noticing £125 disappear from my HSBC account today I've spent almost all day looking into this. I've also only just noticed (I never was any good with my personal money) that they've been doing this for years, though it used to be £18, then £20. I think the 'unfair' aspect derives from the fact that the costs involved for you going overdrawn to the bank are no where in the region of what they actually charge you. That includes the first 25, and the second... and in my case 3rd, 4th and 5th! Incidently, I spoke to HSBC today and they said that if you go overdrawn by more than £10 you get charged £25. If you, a direct debit, credit card payment, etc then takes another figure above £10 out the day after you get charged again. You don't need to go under then over. Also, they can do this on a daily basis... so 3 x £4 in 1 day and you're charged. Finally, they have a limit of £125 per month. By the looks of my previous accounts (which I''ve been looking through today) this may have used to be £54! Anyway... back to the books. Jon
