  1. I'm confused re the engine diagnosis light thing...it comes on when i switch the engine on, then disappears but I've never seen it before yesterday. As we are friends with the dealer and I would prefer things to not become awkward, if he comes back to me and says there is nothing wrong, should I get a second opinion?
  2. Yeah the warranty was a month, seemed to be the same as all other garages on a second hand car. The light flashes on when the engine is switched on, then goes off, but I only noticed it starting to do it yesterday, I'd never seen the symbol before that's why I looked in the manual. I took it in today and the dealer has kept it to have a look at it, so will find out later if they find anything.
  3. Should be car playing UP, doh! Hi, I bought a second hand 52 plate citroen saxo five weeks ago from a local dealer. The car has been fine apart from tonight when the engine diagnosis light flashed on, according to the manual it means there's a fault in the fuel injection, arrgh!! trust this to happen just outside the warranty! Now I know I'm probably wasting my time but is it worth taking it back to where I bought it to try? as I'm sure this is not a wear and tear problem and should have been noticed in the MOT it had before I bought it?
  4. Ok, pat, you don't have to be so patronising about it! Arnold Clark asked me to take it into them - but now I realise I will need to contact the DVLA.
  5. Thanks Slick, put my car into the garage last night. The garage have been really good with me (the owner is a family friend) so I know they will fix whatever is wrong with it. Just glad I went with a good garage this time!
  6. I couldn't find a contact number for DVLA, I have since given the registration document back to Arnold Clark and have been sent out my new one for the correct car. Hopefully that's it solved. Thanks
  7. Hi there, I am hoping that anyone who has knowledge of car mechanics can help me with this one. I bought a 52 reg Citroen Saxo from a small garage 3 weeks ago. Since the car is still in its' warranty I am have booked it in back at the garage tomorrow as I have noticed a couple of things that I'm unsure about. The first thing which has happened since I have had it is creaking/knocking (unsure how to describe it) in the steering when I go round corners. It disappears when I straighten the wheel. Also the last couple of days I have heard a large revving sound from the engine when it's switched on, I can be sitting in a car park with the engine switched on, and the engine becomes really noisy and I am sure I can smell a burning. I turned the engine off when it did this yesterday and it keeps whirring even when its switched off and dies off, i then switched it back on and it was roaring loudly. I am just looking for any possible ideas really, just so I know how big a job it's going to be. Thanks for any help.
  8. Another update: I think there may be a problem when the wire from my Sky box is plugged in. When I plugged it in the problems started again a few minutes later. I don't have a vast knowledge of microfilters, is there anything I can do?
  9. A little update: I unplugged my Sky box and used the internet for about 1 hour without any connection problems, an hour is long compared to before. I have just plugged by Sky cable back in, all good so far so will see what happens.
  10. Ok thanks Conniff I will definitely give that a try.
  11. Hi thanks for the replies. Ok this may be difficult to explain but I'll try. The main telephone socket is in the hallway, beside my bedroom and the living room. My dad has an extension lead going from that socket into the living room which is where he keeps the modem. There is a microfilter also attached to it, and also my sky + line which goes in an extension lead into my bedroom. I use wireless and so does my dad. ETA: I haven't took the cable out going from my Sky+ box as there is no where else to put it. Hope I've explained that ok!
  12. Hi everyone I am looking for some technical advice here, as it is driving me crazy! For some time now we have been having problems with our Sky broadband at home. I live with parents and ever since I had an extra Sky+ box installed in my bedroom (this may or may not relate to the actual problem) we have been having constant problems with out broadband connection. It connects and disconnects constantly, when going into the router status, it says 'LCP Down' then 'Negotiating' then it eventually reconnects but it is very annoying as it does this every ten or so minutes. My boyfriend is very technically literate but even he can’t source the problem. Everytime we phone Sky they tell us to do the same things over and over, which don't ever work, and having to talk to indian call centre workers all the time who don't seem to know what they are talking about, is really frustrating Please help! Jenni
  13. OK I accept that but I am in Scotland!
  14. Whoa thanks people that was a surprise to see a reply to a 12 month old post! I had this sorted out - got all the money back. I never found out who 24h pay Malta are, and I have never used any online gambling sites in my life.
  15. But you can't generalise and say every single member of staff in DWP are stupid? I find that very insulting as I personally believe I carry out my job well.
  16. Hi everyone I posted here a few weeks ago about my problems with Arnold Clark. In the end I went through another garage and have now had a new car for 2 weeks, and it was so stress and problem free! Anyway, 2 days ago I arrived home from work to find a letter from the DVLA, It looked like a registration document so I assumed it was for my new car as the garage had sent away the 'new keeper supplement' for me. When I opened it it was a registration certificate, but it was for the wrong reg number, it was for the car Arnold Clark were meant to sell me but they told me it was 'condemned' and no longer saleable. I then phoned Arnold Clark to ask why I had received this and they didn't seem to have a clue, they just asked me to take it in, when I said yes they asked quite rudely when it would be! I took it in last night and spoke to the salesman I previously dealt with, he said he meant to phone me to warn me I would receive this. I was in a hurry and didn't ask but why did I get sent this? My only idea is that they have gone and sold this car I was meant to get after they didn't sell it to me. To say I would be mad if that were the case is an understatement! What are they playing at? arrgh!
  17. Just an update on this, I phoned Halifax last week and told them I couldn't afford to pay all this in one installment. They set up a payment plan with me (£40 a month which is all I can afford and I KNOW for a fact this will not clear it). They said they can only freeze the interest if I go through a debt management company? is this right? Jenni
  18. Thanks very much Buzby. She is getting the money refunded to her tomorrow.
  19. I think she has a visa electron. She has called her bank and they have filled in a form for her.
  20. Hello everyoneApologies if this hasn't posted in paragraphs, sometimes it doesn't let me when I type a post!I am posting on behalf of my mum. She spend £8 in a shop called Salon Services on Tuesday. She looked at her bank statement yesterday and the £8 had been taken off, and also a seperate payment from the same store for £12. She has contacted the store and they said there is nothing they can do, and the money has not went to them, even though it looks like it has (sounds fishy if you ask me). They said they have had someone else complain of a similar problem but they don't have the money.Mum then contacted her bank and they said the issue should be taken up with the shop and that they are lying. What should she do? any ideas?thanks
  21. This happened to me a few months ago, I complained over the phone and got nowhere.I then went into my branch the next day and they grudgingly refunded them as a 'goodwill gesture' but said they wont do it again. I would try going into your branch, it's absolutely ridiculous that they can charge this much just for going £2 over.
  22. Believe me, they were cut up a long time ago! I will never, ever spend on credit cards again!thanks for the advice , I am going to look into that
