  1. Just logging on to report another success. I didn't follow the guidelines exactly. Decided to begin by writing a polite letter requesting a refund 'as I am advised that the charges do not reflect the cost to the bank of administering my account'. They acknowledged within 10 days saying they would look into it. They wrote after 8 weeks saying they believed they would be successful if they defended the claim in court (I had not mentioned the word 'claim' nor 'court') but in view of the costs involved they were offering a full refund 'without prejudice'.
