  1. I hope someone could help me I purchased double glazing and a new front door in 2013. Last year I had to report a defect in the door. The lady I spoke to at the Sterling PVCU - http://www.sterlingpvcu.co.uk/ asked for my postcode etc and sent out a fitter to repair it. Since that time there have been further defects in the seals in the windows and the front door has again dropped. I telephoned and they asked for the order number and I am afraid I can't find it although I do have the FENSA guarantee and original quote. They said their policy is that if I have no order number they can do nothing and that the the lady I spoke to last year should not have looked up the order number as it is their policy that no order number no repair. I telephoned FENSA and they said they had never heard of this. Is this correct - can they not correct the defects if I don't give them the order number - I did pay cash at the time of installation. Can anyone please give me some advice - can they do this. I was also told the Managing Director will not ring me to discuss complaints and that was the end of that. Many thanks to anyone who can help as the windows are pretty useless with the seal breakdown and the door not shutting properly. Frustrated!
  2. I recently purchased a 7 pce rattan dining set for the garden using Groupon for the first time. I was impressed that delivery was excellent as it was coming from Stuttgart and arrived in two days. On unpacking it took me 4 1/2 hours to put six chairs up and was very happy with them. On unpacking the table the holes did not line up so could not put any screws in. I immediately phoned Groupon to report this but it took me 15-20 minutes on each occasion trying to get through. I was told it would take 10 days for someone to contact me via email (it was being passed to a "higher department") (I was not allowed to speak to anyone with any authority) I agreed to this, although why it would take 10 days is anyone's guess. Half way through the 10 day period I telephoned again just to see how my issue was getting on to be told the same thing as in the first call and it was also revealed I was speaking to someone in the Phillipines and not the UK! Apparently the Phillipines pass on any complaints back to the UK for their team to deal with. Although I am very happy with the chairs all I want is a replacement table - has anyone had similar problems with Groupon? I would be happy to hear how you got on. Frustrated to say the least and have delayed buying the other items I was going to purchase from them. I have also read on another consumer site that the OFT have issued them a warning.
  3. My loan with HSBC had £3,500 added to it upfront for PPI insurance. I complained about this albeit one year later that I believed I was mis-sold this insurance as I was never given the option to take it up or not and that I was not asked about any medical conditions. I was approached by the bank that they would cancel the PPI but I would have to take a new loan out at the rate of 11% (whereas the original loan was 4%). I complained about this and lo and behold I have just received a letter returning my premiums with interest and I can take out a new loan at the original rate. Success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Hello everyone hope someone can help? I took out a loan with my bank and they added PPI insurance on the loan without giving me the option not to take it. It inflated the loan dramatically. I saw an article on PPI and wrote to my bank to ask them to cancel the PPI as I believed it was mis-sold to me as I was never told it was optional. The bank have been in touch and told me I can cancel the PPI, but I must take another loan out. They will refund part of the PPI but this will be deducted off the original loan. I can then take a new loan out with no PPI, (this time I was told I had the option), but because the interest rate is higher now, I will owe them more than in the first place! Can I not just cancel the PPI as it was mis-sold and keep the loan at the interest rate it was when I took it out? Any advice would be a great help? PS I am also reclaiming my bank charges. The bank sent my £10 cheque back saying the statements would be free of charge!
