  1. i really resent paying this tax as i rarely the bbc or listen to bbc radio and i really resent the way that they back dated the tax 15 days so i had to pay for 15 days for a rubbish service i didn't even have!!! we have a very tv poor picture round here and an intermittent service which annoys me even more. i support the people fighting it but my wife will not let me do it as well
  2. i opened an abbey account 2 years ago, they had all the correct information. this year the fiancee was added to it. tried to use my card online, which i've done many times before, and it failed, so re entered all the information, again failed, tried a couple of times, changing case etc until it decided to lock my card, so i rung up abbey and they didn't like to discuss my account because i couldn't give them the correct date of birth. it turns out they've given my fiancee my birthday but with her year and randomly made up a birthday for me!! now i know there's nothing that can be done for someones cock up but it's just a warning for people to check in case they've had any information changed next time they're in the bank.
  3. does the license fee go monthly like road tax? i recently renewed but it said i bought it at the start of august last year, which i can't see why i would as i didn't even have a house then, i bought it middle of the month. renewing this year i thought they'd had 2 weeks extra out of me last year so i will be two weeks late paying to balance it out yet when it was paid two weeks late they backdated it! do they commit fraud like the dvla and do it by month? i can't see how they can do this but it's happened to me.
  4. i was given ppi by natwest when i was self employed but had only been self employed for 1 month when i took it out. i was told this would protect me if i didn't get continuous income, but having read this forum i'm beginning to think this was a load of rubbish to get me to take out a plan i didn't need/couldn't even use. it was on a 7k loan so ppi wasn't cheap. this was before i properly found the internet so couldn't look things up. can i get a refund on any of this? thanks
  5. were told we'd get a courtesy car for 3 days but it never materialised so no car to go and get the belongings no idea who the salvage company are but i'll be ringing up tomorrow again to find out thanks
  6. the girlfriend had a crash back in october so the following day as soon as i could i rung morethan to report the crash and make a claim, started well enough, took all the details etc and said where would i like the car taken to for assessment so i chose a place about 6-7 miles away from me so i could get my personal belongings from the car (i wasn't around when the car was crashed and it was 80 miles away). 2 weeks later they finally recovered the car to a garage 90+ miles away from me meaning that i couldn't get any of my possessions out easily (how they expect me just to drive along there i don't know) another week passed and the car was written off and the repair company told me morethan will get the car taken to a salvage yard (where i can get my belongings, again still 90+ miles away!!) and make me a settlement offer. another week has passed and they've still not made an offer and now i can't help thinking that my personal belongings will probably be missing by now so will i then have to claim for them separately? will be ringing again tomorrow but seem to spend a lot of time on hold so get fed up. dragged on for 4 weeks so far and it's getting annoying
  7. we bought a sofa from dfs back at the start of august (the 4th to be exact) and were told delivery was approximately 10 weeks. after 10 weeks i rang them as had heard nothing, said they'd ring back when their suppliers were open again after the weekend but i had no phone call back. rang again, this time they again said they'd ring back, no call back. a couple of days later i rang back again, to be told they left a message on my mobiles voicemail (they didn't as i've checked my voicemail) saying that they were expecting the furniture in on the 7th november and then they can arrange delivery. that means it'll have been at least 14 weeks to get our sofa! is there anything i can do or claim compensation for how long it'll have all taken. it cost £2400 and was paid on credit card. winds me up as on tv they're advertising guaranteed delivery by christmas and that's only 8 weeks away!
  8. any one else rung the morethan renawal line? i did on 3 separate times yesterday, everytime it was answered by a foreign sounding person, at least they were very hard to understand. is their call centre in india? they all sounded indian, but luckily they asked for my number and called me back as i spent so long asking them to repeat theirselves due to their poor english and then speaking too quiety. they were nice and friendly but everything was such hard work, they got the numbers and letters i gave them wrong and i kept having to repeat them. what should have been a 10 minute conversation ended up being over 20 minutes and it still hadn't finished i just ran out of time and phone battery. i ended up going elsewhere, even though they were more expensive, just because they spoke english! morethan are nice and cheap but the call centre experience is very poor, can we have people that speak english next time please!
  9. the girlfriend and i have recently moved into our first house. the tv signal is shockingly bad. fuzzy at the best of times, and completely non existant half the time. we're running 3 tv signal boosters as without these we get no picture at all. am i still expected to pay for a tv license for this virtually non existant service i receive? even with just the 4 channels we don't watch the bbc. only itv or channel 4 then dvds.
  10. it happens all the time, i've seen people charged £400 for simple valves that cost them £30 to buy and the problems still there, but people don't get a refund. they never offer a guarantee to fix it or your money back
  11. removing and rinsing out your radiators means the sludge is still in your pipework, it's a half arsed measure. adding the cleansing chemicals from the likes of b&q can help but they're pretty weak and have a limited affect. be wary of who flushes out your system. many plumbers seem completely incompetent and can't clear air (they don't know how to) or remove blockages and only spend about 4-5 hours flushing it. a proper job for about 7-8 radiators is 7 hours +. if you've got twin entry radiator valves (valves only on 1 side of the radiator) it CANNOT be properly flushed so if someone tells you they can do it well i'd call them a liar.
