  1. Hi runcornlass

I posted a few posts above yours. I was also originally with GMAC.

My fixed rate came to an end last September so from the 1st October they put me on their SVR. I was in a real state. BUT since then the interest rate has dropped every month until now. OHL passed all these on to me so I am now paying their SVR, which is 2.49 (1.99 above the bank base rate). If I was still in the fixed rate I would be paying 6.49.

Please try not to worry - it may not be as bad as you think.

  2. Hi BP

My discounted rate also came to an end last September. I'm on interest only at the moment so I don't know if that makes a difference (it shouldn't!). I have a hefty mortgage so was in a bit of a panic when it went to the SVR.

BUT since then the interest rate has dropped nearly every month and Oakwood have passsed on ALL decreases to me. I wait with trepidation every month for the letter advising me of my new payments. My payments have dropped from over £1300 (in October) to just over £570 from 1st March. There has since been another 0.5% decrease so I'm waiting to see if they pass this on as well. At present I'm on SVR of 2.99%

    Please contact them.

    Hope this helps:)

  3. Charley, you're so right.

Her eldest son was more concened about his children not enjoying their holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She had a terrible time - pins and metal plate put her in her foot - should have had DVT injection before being put on the plane home but because the instructions were all in Spanish no one realised. Thank god she was OK.

I was visiting my mum when she got home and my son called me to tell me what happened to her, so I told him (where were her sons??) to get her to the hospital (she was waiting for an appt. to see her GP..........????) Thank God she went because they took the plaster off and realised her foot was "set" at the wrong angle!!

She's out of plaster now but still off work and this is since July.

  4. Hi Angelsl and Charley - long time no see/hear.

So So So glad to know you're all still here.

Lots been happening (apart from the pain in the bum Charley). Still got the pain but had an epidural in July/Aug - first few nights without pain - glorious!! Back at work and still suffering - because I'm back at work and not on prescribed painkillers they won't give me another epidural!!!!

My friend, Carmel, who a lot of you will know lost her son to cancer last year, went on holiday to Spain with her other 2 sons in July for a family holiday in memory of James. She fell by the pool and broke her ankle in 3 places. Operation in Spain - no-one spoke English - sons argued over who was going to look after her - eldest son more worried about his children (who in-advertently caused the accident - long story!) Been ferrying her around ever since.

My eldest son came home from Norfolk - split up from his partner. Instead of going away and leaving me to downsize my 2 seem to be here forever...........

My discounted mortgage rate came to an end at the end of September. Mortgage went up £229 a month on 1st October. Came down £79 in October so I'm hoping for a serious rate cut tomorrow!! Just living month to month....... and hoping.............

Got stitched up recently................. any help appreciated - tell me where to post?....

Saw a website for cheap cigarettes................I know, I know.............anyway placed an order for 2 cartons (400 cigs) for my mum. she lives in Ireland and is feeling the pinch financially. She's smoked all her life and she's 82! They send the cigs 200 at a time to get around import duty. she got the first 200 but the 2nd carton was stopped by customs - they want 74 euros, VAT, Import duty, etc. (more than I paid for 400)

After she got the first 200 I placed another order for 2 cartons (approx £62) - these have been retained by customs!!!!

The website tells you they are able to ship to Europe but it is your responsibility. They also tell you any undelivered cigs will be returned to them and you will be refunded, BUT they don't put a return address on the package. I know this because I got in touch with the customs in Ireland who told me it is illegal to ship cigs in this way in the EU - you are allowed to bring in 200 but only if you are travelling. The website is

cigs-sale.com. I would be grateful for any advice on what to do. I have emailed them and I'm not getting any joy.

Charley I'm so sorry to hear about your redundancy - I do hope you get something soon.

Robdblynd - I'm so so so sorry I haven't been in touch - I will email you soon, i promise.

So Sorry for the long post............................ just off loading!!

  6. Hi Angels and Charley.

Can't believe I missed the 7000th post. Wasn't logging in as I couldn't sit long enough with the pain in my a**e. Still being treated for sciatica.

Been waiting nearly 5 weeks for appointment with physiotherapist (unfortunately haven't got private cover). Got letter last week from hospital to phone them for an appointment. 1st available appt. 1st April. then she tells me there is a "walk in" facility, where you can go there and wait on a 1st come 1st served basis to see a physiotherapist. AAAAAAAAAargh - been off work and in SEVERE pain and no-one told me about this facility - so make sure you ask if this facility is available .

My brother (he's in america) offered to pay for a MRI scan for me - he's really suffering financially as he's a small business in real estate and the bottom has fallen out of the American market.................... so his offer meant a lot.......... anyway I just realised last week that when I opened my new account with A&L (after Shabbey dealings) I was offered a 50 Plus account. Well.................................. I've got up to £750 per year cover for out-patient treatment which includes ...................... yeah an MRI scan. Got to go to my own GP tomorrow to request referral letter and go from there. I hope you are all well - I've missed you ALL. Have you seen the chatroom that's been set up - I can actually get on that one.

  7. Hi All

Thanks Kia - I'll try those exercises.

Went to the docs yesterday - gave me different pills. He said it was a new nerve pain drug - very expensive.................. I pay for my prescriptions so do I care...............................? he said the ones the other doc gave me were of no use:( so........................over 20 quid down the drain then:(

These are more like a tranquiliser - although must say they worked a bit - but this mornings dose is wearing off now and the pain is back to excruciating. Getting REALLY fed up with this now. Can't sit, stand or walk for long. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh

    Hope everyone is OK.:D
