  1. Just to let you know, i made an agreement with Abbey to settle before we got to court, I figure I may lose some money by doing this, but at least I will be getting back more then nothing, which is what I was looking at having lost the statements!!
  2. I am mid way through a claim against Abbey and have just recieved my AQ to send back. When I went to get my bank statements, they had gone! Cant find them anywhere and have turned the house upsaide down. My girlfriend says she may have thrown them away as they were old statements!!! Is there anyway I can get a delay so i can get new statements from Abbey? There is a box on the AQ that states you may want extra time, is it worth doing this, so I can get statements from Abbey again. Dont know what to do and dont want to have wasted the best part of £250 having gone though everything up to this point. Any advice would be gratefully recieved!
  3. What shoudl i do if the bailiff returns the warrant to the council but they do not accept my proposal?
  4. Am concerned now, as just checked my voicemail and there was another msg from Bailiff 1. He said he is now not prepared to make some sort of agreement and I will have to go back to the council to arrange a court date! He has also said he is not prepared to accept the money i have given him, and that i need to contact him to arrange him to refund me the money, as nothing will happen to it. Do I contact the council and advise them that I have paid money to the bailiff, I have the reciept to prove they took it, or do i contact the bailiff to arrange getting the money back?
  5. OK, so this is strange now, and cant get on the chat room so some advice if someone could help please. The original bailiff, who i spoke to on te phone couldnt make it, so he sent another one around. WHo seem to be fine with everything, but i have just missed a call from Bailiff 1 on my mobile and he left a voicemail saying he needed to come back to see me as he couldnt accept the money and would have to arrange to give it back to me! Any one have any ideas why?
  6. OK, so bailiff came round, i went and met him at the door, and advised him that i had taken advice and unfortunetly i couldnt let him in, he showed me his id badge, although i couldnt remember the initials i was looking for!! I handed him the letter that i had amended, which he read, i handed him the money and advised him that this was how i wished to proceed. He gave me a reciept and left It was all very pleasent and not half as bad as i thought it would be. So a big thanks to everyone, and fingers crossed that the council accept my offer to pay.
  7. I have just found this site and spent most of the afternoon reading cautionary tales. I have a bailiff coming round tonight to make an agreement for the payment of my outstanding council tax, and now a bit confused over whether I should let him in or not? Is it in my benefit to let him in and make an agreement which will almost certainly be for my then I can reaslitically pay, or should i try and settle this with the council direct? I advised them i could only make a payment of £130 a month and they wanted £1300 within three months! The bailiff has verbally agreed £175 on the phone, but some advice would be gratefull recieved.
