  1. Hi Everyone, I am in a bit of a strange situation with Capital One. I sent my original request for £400 on 26th February. I didn't hear anything so I sent the LBA on 12th March. Still nothing, then just filling out MCOL today, and along came the postman with a letter from our friends at Capital One. It offered me the difference between the £20 charge and £12 charge which came to £184 (doesnt quite add up to me but hey). Anyway the strange thing is I received the letter today but it was dated 9th March 2007. So it was sent before I sent my LBA. I'm a little confused now in how to proceed. I'm highly likely to reject the letter but wonder if I should just wait a week or so before continuing with my LBA as they may come back with a better belated offer after they process my LBA. What do you guys think??
  2. Hello everyone, Ok, so here goes my situation. I got details of all my charges (approx £2100 inc Interest) from internet banking. Sent my original refund request and was told by colin langsdale that he was looking into my enquiry. I still sent my LBA 14 days after the original letter and that was 14 days ago tomorrow. I have not received a reply, so I guess its time for MCOL....??
  3. No I didnt ask for interest, I didnt even know where to start. I really want to do it though as it will work out to quite alot. Is it too late even though I didnt ask for it in my original letter??
  4. Hi everyone, Some help would be greatly appreciated. I sent off a preliminary request letter to capital one 14 days ago asking for the return of £440 ( on a card with a £200 limit) anyway, I sent it to the following address - Customer Contact Response Dept Capital One PO Box 5283 Nottingham NG2 3YJ I got that address from someone at the customer services dept but it was about 6 months ago. I'm hoping it hasnt moved but I fear the worst as I havent had a response. Anyway, is the next step the letter before action or is it slightly different with credit cards? I really dont like capital one, they always seem out to get me. (no im not paranoid) Thanks guys.
  5. Hi everyone, I sent my prelim letter exactly 14 days ago today, and suprise suprise I only received a response today from none other than Mr Langdale. I quote - "I am looking into the matters you have raised and will contact you with a full response as soon as I have completed my investigations" What investigations, surely double checking my spreadsheet will not take longer than 10 minutes. I'm claiming back £1,780 and a good £400 interest! Anyone know what I should do? should I wait for Mr Langdale to finish his investigations or shall I just proceed with my LBA? Any advice will be greatfully received. Thanks,
  6. hello everyone, I used to have a credit card with hsbc which no doubt encountered many default & late payment charges. i closed the credit card account about 3 years ago and too out a loan (also with hsbc) to clear the balance. does anybody know how i would go about getting my old credit card statements... i threw them away a while ago (before i knew i could claim back the charges) because they depressed me!!! any help will be received gratefully.
  7. Hi everyone, I sent off my initial request on Tuesday by special delivery... it was received by HSBC (Leeds complaint center) on Wednesday... I'm looking forward to my response! I presume the initial response will be "charges are fair blah blah blah" right??
