    Hi all!

Thanks Rooster! I think maybe its time to call it a day and come back tomorrow! I seem to be spending a lot of time reading and some advice is conflicting, which leaves me more confused. I will spend a few more days reading before doing anything else. I have put together a table of my charges but it is not a spreadsheet, do you think that it would be sufficient? Thanks.

    Hi all!

Thank you, much appreciated! It is all so confusing!! I think I may need to spend more time reading, although this has taken over my life for the passed two weeks!! Am I right in assuming then that the 8% interest is not paid to customers, as banks don't seem to want to go to court, or is requested when you make your initial court claim? thanks!

    Hi all!

Today I have gone through six years of bank statements on two accounts and have discovered that i could be owed just under £3000! I put together a table showing when these charges had been applied and how much and was all geared up to sending them tomorrow. I visited this site tonight and am now totally confused! As well as charges, I have interest charges and are also aware that you are supposed to add 8% interest, somewhere??!! Some writers have stated not to send the interest charges with your initial letter. Do you mean the interest on the statement or the 8%?? Advised to use the spreadsheet in the library, I did, but it only allows for the 8% interest and not the interest on the bank statement. Can anyone help at all, I am now totally lost!!! Many thanks
  6. Hi, I have spent all day today going through two bank account statements, to find that I am owed just under £3000! I created a table myself with (date, amount of charge, interest) to send with my initial letter. After coming onto the site I am really confused! Lots of people are saying not to ask for the interest, is that the 8% or the interest incurred on my statements. The site suggested using the spreadsheet from the library which i did, but it only gives room for the 8% interest not the interest on my statements. I thought I was clear on what i was doing but am now a little fuzzy and don't want to appear to be when I send in my letter. Can anyone clear this up for me please? thank you!
  7. Hi all! I have spent today calculating all my charges on two accounts over the past six years, they are a total of 2711.62 I hadn't seen the spreadsheet (and I not very computer literate!) but I have typed them in order in three columns ready to send, date - charges - interest. On my statements there were interest charges, and I have calculated this into my total. Should I or shouldn't I have done this? I thought the 8% was calculated after all charges and interests had been totalled. Anyone any idea? I was hoping to get them sent off tomorrow!
  8. Thanks for that. I have just been reading through some of the info, the whole process does look very daunting and complicated, especially when you know very little about what you are dealing with. I will have a good read over the weekend before doing anything. Thank you.
  9. Hi all! My husband and I have just tuned in to watch the Trevor Mcdonald programme and have realised that the HSBC probably have a lot of money with our names on it! I am going to spend the weekend navigating this site and come Monday I will be sending out my first letter. The only thing that we are worried about is opening another account, having looked at a few online ones this evening it doesn't appear that we would be able to. We don't have a great credit history and fear our account being closed. Any suggestions??
