  1. Hi there, can anyone help? My brain just isn't working this morning. I am about to type my particulars of claim. Just a bit stuck on the figures: I am claiming - 851.00 plus 287.82 in interest totalling 1138.82. I would also like to claim 8% at a daily rate of... until judgment but unsure of the the daily rate? What do I put? Thanks guys
  2. Hi, I have sent my S.A.R off, preliminary letter and LBA and have had replies to all...there has been no mention of my £1300 overdraft in their responses and to make sure they don't try to use my "winnings" (£1132) to repay the majority of it I am requesting payment by cheque!
  3. Oh wow, thanks for the advice, you have answered all my questions. Going to spend the next couple of days preparing my MCOL application making sure it's 100% perfect. Thanks again. Can't believe I am at this stage...it's scary!
  4. Well, only a week after posting my LBA I have had another letter exactly the same as the response to the preliminary letter. So...I guess now it's MCOL stage. Going to read up to make doubly sure I know what I am doing. Just a couple of questions though, firstly, do I need to let Nationwide know I am now proceeding to the court stage?? Secondly, am I right in understanding you can't attach a schedule of the charges with MCOL? Is it worth sending them a copy???? Once I register my claim can someone explain step by step what happens next? Thanks in advance
  5. Hi there, well today I have finally received a reply to my preliminary letter...a week late and in the meantime have posted my LBA! The reply basically states that "feedback from our members is absolutely invaluableand we are naturally disappointed that we haven't met your expectations on this occasion"...and "if you are having difficulty managing your accout we may be able to agree to provide you with an overdraft factility"........so basically a standard letter! I already have a blinking overdraft facility for god's sake too, it's a bit of an insult that it's so obviously a standard letter and they couldn't just tap up my details and see I have an overdraft which I am having to reduce at sixty quid a month at their request! Grrr... Anyway they have till a week on saturday then I am proceeding with MCOL. Nationwide Sucks!
  6. Congratulations! This has totally spurred me on! Have they closed your account?
  7. Hi there, I sent my preliminary letter a couple of weeks back and was suprised not to hear anything. Sent my LBA two days ago and am now just waiting. I know the next stage is MCOL but just starting to feel nervous...I am claiming £1137 in total but have a £1300 overdraft, just worried now about having that taken off me or my account closed. Am in the process of opening a parachute account but can't get an overdraft to match as yet. Dunno what advice I want really, just feeling despondent as they haven't replied and wondering if this is really gonna work! Sorry to moan!
  8. Hee-Hee! Yes see you at the finish line, good luck!!!!
  9. Just done my LBA, the thing is I sent my request for statements and my preliminary letter to the Northampton Data Protection Team address. I know the LBA should go to the Swindon address but will they know anything about me if I have corresponded so far with Northampton? Knowing Nationwide the left hand won't know what the right hand is doing! What would you do? Sorry to be a pain in the rear!
  10. Thank you!! Can't believe they haven't even responded to my preliminary letter! Just drafting out my LBA now which will be posted on Thursday if I haven't heard from them by then. Claiming for £1138.82........should just about pay for a nice holiday in the sun eh!!
  11. Hi, just wondered which address to send LBA to? Have so far sent statement request and preliminary letter to the Data Protection Team, does it go to the same address? Thanks in advance
  12. Thanks for the reply, I get cracking! Just a quick question, I have sent both my request for statements and the preliminary letter to the Data Protection Team in Northampton. Do I use the same address for LBA? There is different advice on this website so a bit confuzzled!
  13. Hi there, I sent my preliminary letter asking for re-inbursement of the charges applied 12 days ago, they have two more days to reply. Am I right in thinking that I should sent my letter before action whether they have replied or not? I gave them two weeks and so far nothing!
  14. Thanks so much for the replies. Yes it seems they aren't closing accounts but then will for the odd claim. Just shows how they aren't handling this influx of claims if they have no set rule on the closure of accounts. I am gonna put a "we have been with you for umpteen years and have generally been happy and don't see the need for account closure" greasey statement at the bottom of my preliminary letter! I am going to open a parachute account in case but just don't want to have to move accounts as I have an overdraft, stacks of direct debits etc etc. I wonder if it depends on the amount of your claim or whether it's who refunds your money on the day or what mood they are in! Pathetic!
  15. It seems they are closing accounts and not closing accounts...what's the latest?
  16. Thanks for that. I was more concerned about overdrafts...I have quite a big one at the moment which I am up to the limit with and am worried I won't be able to get an equally big one when I swap accounts.
  17. Hi I am trying to find a parachute account in case Nationwide close mine when I make my claim. It's not a huge claim but I want to be ready if they do. The thing is my current overdraft is £1300 which I am currently reducing by £60 a month (at nationwide's request). It's unlikely I will find a parachute account who will offer this amount overdraft. What have you done in this situation? I presume my "winnings" will have to cover the overdraft (only claiming £750.00) and then at least I will have a new account with a smaller overdraft. A bit confuzzled. Anyone found a bank that will offer a reasonable size one?
  18. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! I understand now. I won't be even mentioning interest in my preliminary letter now but understand how to work it out when/if I need to. The spreadsheet is excellent - will start filling it in now. Thanks again, what a great forum this is!
  19. Thanks for that. I think I will go for the 8%. So is it 8% of the total amount or 8% x 6 (6 years)? Thanks again
  20. Hi there, just need some advice please: I have received my 6 years worth of statements and am about to prepare my preliminary letter. My claim only amounts to 775.00 but I am claiming anyway as that money will really help out. The thing is...the more I read about adding the interest the more I am confused. I keep seeing 8% quoted then 24.9%...which one can you claim and what is the difference? I appreciate there is stacks of info on the site but to be honest I am utterly confused. So, would I just ask for my 775.00 + 8% Do you ask for the interest in the preliminary letter? I have read conflicting advice on this. Can anyone help me with this as I am going round in circles. Thanks so much in advance.
  21. Hi, I currenlty have an overdraft of £1400 and need to open a parachute account, I need this kind of overdraft facility (just in case Nationwide decide to ask me to repay theirs prior to settlement). I earn £19k a year so it shouldn't be a problem should it? Which bank? Cheers for any advice.
  22. Hi, I have started the ball rolling today to re-claim my bank charges against Nationwide (sent of letter requesting statements of charges). Just wondering if completing this process will affect my credit rating? Hoping to re-mortgage later on in the year and don't want this to put a spanner in the works! Can't see how it can but you never know! Any ideas?
  23. Hi, just started this procedure today, have posted off request for statements, can't wait to get cracking! Just wondered if doing this will affect credit rating? Any ideas anyone? Hoping to re-mortgage in December 07 and don't want this to prevent me. I can't imagine how it could but you never know. ANy thoughts appreciated.
  24. Thanks so much. Wow there isn't a shortage of reading material! Reading the success stories really give me confidence I can do it too. It's just a question of persistence and not letting the bank intimidate me. I am going to take it all the way and if I have to send the bailiffs into the branch to collect my cash I will do it! Does anyone know the general success rate? Is it pretty much a dead cert you will give some if not all your cash back with most banks providing you follow the procedure? I can't seem to find any reference to anyone that's lost. Thanks so much for the welcome, have sent letter off now recorded delivery to my bank. Can't wait to get the statements as I have no idea how much (or little) I am looking at. Good luck to everyone.
