  1. Thank you very much - I very much appreciate the reply. As I say, the trust are known for their bullying tactics and have recently taken a hit to the workforce - I think everyone knows that their time is almost up. There are a number of inaccuracies between the letters and obvious intimidation tactics at play, for example, the initial 'charge' was for X amount per day. The arrears have now bumped above that rate and the timeframes used seem deliberately set so 'customers' can't receive advice. I am deeply angered at this as even in the slimmest chance that I may have spent one or two nights on the couch when I've had fallouts with my partner, I was still on benefits. I'm not sure if that matters, but again, the bullying is frustrating.
  2. Hi all, Long story short - I'm living with my partner and have been for some years now. However, the local housing trust (my parents' house), has received letters saying their rent is in arrears. I think it was around £13-15 per week. When my father questioned it, they said that new information had come to light that I had been living there (which obviously I wasn't). They said (verbally) that unless they provided them with an address for me that they would keep putting the charge on and evict them. To my mind, this is wrong. Whichever way you slice it, to do that to pensioners is shocking behaviour. The vitriolic thing is, is that, there is no reasoning on any of the letters, no explanation as to why the charges - it is all word-of-mouth upto now. I'm appalled if I am honest at this and before I act, would like to gather some advice if possible.
  3. Hi Andy, I'm Shaun... Without sounding like I'm going all violin on your arse, I am on benefits at the moment. Basically, I've been jobsearching for nearly 3 years and something that I've come to realise (With the help of a so-called Employment Advisor from A4E), is that, no-one wants to take on a Dyslexic/Dyscalclulic. That, again, is another thing all together, but safe to say, it has been difficult Andy. I do have a standard account (No Direct Debit/etc) with Santander, I think it's just a deposit account and you can't have anything charged to the account. I suppose I could use that; but again, having a few bills that need DD, pretty much screws me up. It's bizarre... Things like this always have a tendency to creep up on you don't they? - However, as much as it's 'my own fault' (and I'm not blaming anyone else here or looking for vindication), I think I need to be a little savvy and play the game here a little, as each and every time I get my statement and see that I'm paying just over £30 a month fees, I get this vision in my head of some balding, grey haired, Armani wearing banker, sitting in a restaurant in Saville Row, tipping a waiter £30 and laughing as he lights up a £30 Cigar with a £30 lighter, emptying his ash in a £30 ashtray; all whilst he is parked in a disabled section outside... I don't not want to pay my overdraft back - I spent the money, I owe it and I will pay it - A man pays his dues... But in the current climate? When you hear all these stories about how bent the banks are and such? You can't help but feel perturbed at the incessant pyramid of power, that feels like it is crumbling from the bottom up. I need to sort this **** out, I know; but as some may know in here, this debt thing feels like you're walking in a bog. Each step getting deeper and deeper... To be honest, credit-wise, I'm not too fussed with credit rating. I had a long-drawn out battle with a dodgy second hand car company (who are now, defunct as I believe), it's a long story, but due to naivety, I went head-to-head with them over the quality of their service, I ended up locked in a stalemate with them, and a hefty bill. Again, not trying to place blame here, but let's just say my credit rating was hit hard by these anyway - So, what are you gonna do? Again, sorry for the mini-biography, but I feel being open and honest about things is usually the best course of action. (If only everyone played on the same rules, right?)
  4. Hello people, I'm in a financial quandary here and need advice about how to go about sorting this out - I'm slightly bitter, I admit and I am up to my neck, frustrated, depressed and broke. Simply, I have a current account that was changed from a student account - The bank automatically changed it to a graduate, then to a current account afterwards. Obviously, as a student, I went into my overdraft, not really planning ahead and looking to the future - You do think that you'll leave university, get a job and pay off your debts. However, after university, most of us realise that there are thousands of other students in the same position and it's like a game of musical chairs for jobs. Anyhow, I'm at the point now where the bank are charging me over £20 a month for my overdraft charges, I'm sure it was all in the small-print, but as I say, you don't think about this do you? - To put a finer point on it, these overdraft charges are killing me and as a result, the £6 charges for unpaid DD's are (and have been) snowballing for months. I now find myself in a difficult position where as soon as my meagre living money goes into my account, after the bank have took their cut, I'm left up in arms and to be honest, aside of the fact that they are 'in the right' to take these costs, I'm highly ****ed off and frustrated, but what are you going to do? Anyhow, I'm thinking that I need to sort this out - I have reclaimed my bank charges on another current account I had with them, which has since been closed, so I can't do it again for this account - and I guess I just need to know my options. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Quite possible, thanks for the info. A+++
  6. Akh, I am sorry, I have a HC2 form, not a HC1 form...
  7. I have an appointment with an NHS dentist and I phoned the other to ask them about my treatment and she said that I have to pay and then claim the charges back even though I have a HC1 form. Is this true? Can a dentist just do this?
  8. I already have on another account, plus.. Haven' they stopped that now?
  9. I really do not know whether this is the right forum, however. I have an outstanding loan with my bank, it is £320.84, however I have no income going into my account, the only dosh I get is my student loan and that doesn't come in till september. My brother has offered to lend me £250 towards paying it off, he mentioned that they may settle for the £250 if I offer them a one off payment of it, considering the bank charges that they have put on top of it, for lates payments. So I went in and tried talking to one of them, she then put me on the phone to the birmingham collection department and I explained my situation, told her I had no income and she just kept on saying I needed to pay the £320, im sure i heard her filing her nails... Anyway, she was about as helpful as a Curry fart in a Micra on the M1. So I was wondering if any members had any other experiences of this.

    HC3 form.

I recently applied for help with my NHS costs and have recieved a HC3 form, however, the prices I have to pay are very high, taking into consideration my low income. I am a 29 year old student, and my income is about £6,500 from student loans and bursarys. However, about 3,500 of that goes on accomodation. I spend about 2,500 of that on living expenses, i.e food, clothing, and an old bank loan from when I was working. I don't really understand the form to be honest, I am dyslexic and it all seems a bit... Offputting if you get me. The main HC3 form says I pay: £28.64 towards private sight tests, £57.28 towards glasses, £28.64 towards NHS treatment, a whopping £85.92 towards denistry and wigs. On a seperate form it seems to break down how they got to tha decision, I will write his down here. Your assessed weekly needs are: Personal Allowance £60.50 Total weeklu needs (a) £60.50 Your assessed weekly income is: Student Loan/Grant for maintennance £79.07 Bursary Allowance £10.07 Total weekly oncome (b) : £89.14 Excess weekly income (b) - (a) £28.64 I really do not know how they have come to this conclusion, as it just seems a tad wrong, I assume they think I get £89.14 a week, when in reality, after maintennance and such, I get nowhere near that. Can anyone advise? Or have you had similar experiences.?
  11. Even though they can stop me withdrawing money through my ATM card, can they stop me drawing out money from the cashdesk?
  12. Yeah it was a current account, had a debit card and all that jazz... Everytime I go in, the tellers and sorts say, "You have 2 student accounts?"
  13. Sorry mate, account 2 is 800 overdrawn, but this is what they have been taking the loan arreras from, it's all soooo confusing. I definetly didn't change it to a student account mate, honestly, it just happened about 3 months back, they cannot even explain it.
  14. SOrry for the re-post, I have read somewhere, that I can request all documentation and statements for £10, would you say this would be the best way to go, firstly.
  15. (Just before I start, Im dyslexic, sydcalculic and I had APD, so if some stuff doesnt seem to make sense, please just ask me to re-explain) After reading a few horror stories around here, my own personal horror story seems like a mere scare in the streets at night, from a heroin addict, all whilst stumbling home after a few shandy's. (I have just wrote a massive story and realized I was waffling, so I'll try and keep it simple, if people want to know details, I'll fill them in, but I realize people are too busy to read a story, so if my post seems to the point and a tad "rude" (for want of a better word), im sorry)... If anyone could help with these few questions, I would be very, very greatful. 1. Can natwest change an account from a savings account to a student account without my consent. Which is what they have done. 2. Following on from that, is it legal to have 2 student accounts at the same bank, because thats what I have. 3. Natwest have put an ATM stop on my main student account which I have my student loans going into (my only source of income), because of a £500 loan not being honured. (this is another story in itself.), can they actually keep on bullying me into paying off my debts, which mostly seem to be just charges. But to keep it short, I have a 500 loan which I fell back on repayments (which was coming out of my main account), so i phoned them and they transferred the repayments to my current account (which is what they turned into a second student account) and now, that account has gone to like -£800 from £250 in the space of a few months. And now I know when I phone, to get the ATM lock from my account that I live off, they are going to bully me into coughing up. and at this moment in time I simply cannot afford that. Seriously! I just wish I could default on them and just stop them snowballing me, which is what they are doing, and then sort it out.
