  1. Hi SamI did not use a template - from memory, all I said was something to the effect that "I consider I have been fair and reasonable in trying to settle this matter amicably. I now intend to invoke legal proceedings to reclaim these illegal charges"I hope this helps
  2. Hi SamI wrote to them again stating that I would be taking court proceedings, left it for 5 days and then lodged a claim using the On line Claims facility; they responded to the court they would be fighting the claim and rescinded at the last minute and sent me a cheque.I hope this helps and Good Luck
  3. HiI had the same problem and did finish up taking A&L to court. There is some excellent information on the Money Expert web site and you can use the quotes on there when you submit your claim on Money Claim on Line. Two days prior to the cut off date for a response from A & L to the court they sent me a cheque for the full amount I had claimed, including of course the charges made by the Court. Yes, I would recommend lots of back gorund from the Money Expert site, The Independent and Which. The long and short of all this is thatthese charges are illegal
  4. Hi It seems you are doing all the right things and preparing for battle!! I used the money claim web site to start proceedings against the A & L after they denied that I had a claim as I had fallen foul of their terms and conditions which are illegal. The website is moneyclaim.gov.uk
  5. I agree with Blimeyboy - hold your ground and be prepared to escalate through the Money On line Claim web site.
  6. Hi I won my claim against the A & L. They submitted my cheque 2 days pior to the court cut off date. Yes, I used Money Claims on Line and wrestled with the site and the address of the defendants but eventually it was all worthwhile both financially and just to have a moral victory against a large institution
  7. Hi Yes yu can claim but there is not a guarantee of success although there is much evidence to suggest that many have been successful. I recently completed a reclaim and had a 100% success - I was at one stage alarmed that the Alliance and Leicester were going to lodge a counter claim. I am now in dispute as they want to close my account Can I suggest you use teh expereince of people on this site and use teh templates. Good Luck
  8. Following my reading of the articles on this site and other web sites, I decided to reclaim my charges from the Alliance & Leicester. I finished up using the Claims on line facility to take them to court to reclaim the monies. Initially, they advised they would refute the claim and I felt I was going to be lumbered with a court charge but lo and behold, 2 days before the cut off date, they sent me cheque for a full refund. Unfortunately there was a veiled threat that they are also going to write to me about how I conduct my account. So, if you are going through this process just keep your nerve and persist - Good Luck!!
