  1. After receiving my letter offering settlement of £1089.50 I have just come off the phone to the bank and have settled for £1550 so I am extremely pleased as I wasnt going to take it further as £1089.50 was better than nothing. I just called to ask them how they came up witht he settlement and they advised that it was half of my claim value (less the interest that I had included) I said I probably would accept a settlement if they could increase it and he said the most I can offer would be £1550 so I just accepted!!! Yee ha! Very pleased as the next step was taking it the ombudsman which I dont really have the time or energy to do. Good luck everyone! Im off on holiday to treat myself!! Dontation on the way!!
  2. I have been through all stages and after my LBA they sent a letter saying that they thought my charges were acceptable and if I wanted I could take it further. I phoned them and said I wasnt happy and that is when they passed my case for further review and came back with the settlement figure purely for goodwill as they feel the charges were acceptable.
  3. I claimed for £2335 (or there abouts) and got the standard letter back saying that the charges were acceptable. Anyway I phoned up to say I wasnt happy and they passed my case for further review. I got a letter on Friday to say that as a gesture of goodwill etc they would deposit £1089.50 into my bank account. Well I am exstatic to have this extra money but dont know whether I should maybe phone and say I am not happy and want the full amount or at lest nearer to the full amount????? I dont know how they came up with the figure they have given me??? Anyone any suggestions as to what I should do? I am a bit scared to o anything in case I come away with nothing!!!!

  5. Hi I am claiming back £2385 in Scotland. I got a letter about two weeks ago to say the charges were fair but I phoned to say I wasnt happy and last Tuesday it was passed for further review. I have phoned up a few times but nobody has really been able to help. Can I just ask what number you phoned and managed to speak to a reasonable guy???? Thanks
  6. Thanks for all your help! I have just phoned the bank to let them know that I was not happy with the outcome of my case and I would be taking it further. They asked if it was OK if they put my case back for further review to perhaps make an offer. I have said that was OK so will call back nearer the end of the week and hopefully the person on the other end of the phone will make me happy!!! If not I'm taking the financial ombudsman route!! I have printed lots of info off to read tonight so that I am prepared!!!
  7. HELP NEEDED!!!! I received a letter in response to my LBA (I waited the 8 weeks for my response as due to personal probs I didnt have the time to take court action after the 14 days) Anyway the letter I have received says that my claim has been rejected. It says that they have carried out a full investigation of my complaint and they are satisfied that the charges have been correctly applied. It goes on to say that when I opened the account I agreed to their terms and conditions which explained about the charges if I did not keep to the terms of my account bla bla bla It says that the charges I am asking themt o refund are their fees for the additional work that they carried out when a customer rquests a payment without suffiecient funds in their account. It also said that the OFT guidelines do not apply to bank account charges. Please advise as to what I should do now?????? Has anyone else received a similar letter? Thanks
