  1. Hi all, Sent my letter requesting repayment of all charges £779.00 only and a spreadsheet detailing them not showing interest. Now its time to send my LBA but it seems that whenever I have gone overdrawn and been charged the interest has been on the amount I'm overdrawn and I cant particularly tie it up to the charges. So now what - how should I word the bit of the letter detailing charges and interest. I have completed the simple spreadsheet for interest calculation at 8%, does the full spreadsheet need to go with the Lba SHOWING THE INTEREST. How do I say that I am charging the 8%? Confused and need to get LBA off asap as is past 14 days now. Maz
  2. Thanks All 4 great advice I will send this follow up letter with a copy of the first letter and the schedule enclosed with it by recorded delivery then I will have more proof... What do you think about my second letter I felt that I would rather write and have written proof of what I have said than argue with some laccy on the phone. mazza
  3. Hi all, I received a standard - fob off letter today "I am sorry that you have been so unhappy that you have felt you must complain" - condescending arnt they! Will write in 4 weeks - do they not read customers letters? I decided I would respond to that one to let them know I mean buisness.. Mr Andrew Nanson Buisness Manager Banking Specialist Team PO Box 5885 Milton Keynes MK10 1FA Request for repayment of charges – follow up letter In reply to your standard letter & leaflet sent in response to my letter requesting reimbursement of the illegal charges of £779.00 you have taken from my account since I opened it in August 2004. The standard letter you sent is just a stalling tactic and I will not accept payment of the £779.00 into my Abbey account and I request a cheque to be sent to me In my name via a signed for and secure postage method. I would like to make you aware that if I do not receive full reimbursement I will file a small claim with the County Court which will include statutory interest charged at 8% APR and also I will charge for my time in persuing my claim at £9.00 per hour and for any reasonable expenses. I am sure that your organisation would rather just pay the full amount I am owed rather than having to go to the further expense of paying court fees, interest, and the other costs I have listed. As stated in my first letter you have two weeks to reply to me from the date of that letter accepting, unconditionally, my request in principal and letting me know a date by which I will receive payment. I enclose a copy of my first letter and again I state that I am aware of my right to claim back these unlawful and unfair penalty charges. I will be in constant liaison with the Consumer Action Group throughout this process until I receive a full reimbursement. Yours sincerely So what you think?
  4. mmm I was wondering that also, I felt that it was fair enough to let them charge the interest they have on my overdraft/fees as they would be getting a more fair settlement of their costs... whilst I go ahead and claim all their fees back. It will be intresting to see what everyone has to say about it? Good luck woodman!!! - I sent my preliminary letter with the schedule of fees claiming all my charges back on Tuesday... I will watch your progress with interest as we will have started at about the same time Mazza
  5. HI there, Time I started a thread I think so here goes I sent the preliminary letter on Tuesday claiming back all the shAbbey cheats charges (also signed the government petition). I decided to try filling in their website complaint form to see what they did about it???? Heres what I said To the customer complaints department - Abbey plc I sent a letter this Tuesday 20/02/2007 to Banking Services, Abbey Plc, PO Box 1109, Bradford. BD1 5ZL requesting full refund of the excessive and illegal charges levied against my account since it was opened. Please confirm receipt of the letter forthwith. I have enclosed a spreadsheet detailing the charges less any refunds I have received which makes my total claim £779.00. You have 14 days to respond then I will send you a Letter before taking up Action via the County Court which you then have another 14 days to respond to before I make complete my court claim. I am well within my rights to take this action and I will have the backing of the Consumer Action Group throughout the process. I will only accept a full refund so any payments made as a Gesture of Good Will will be deducted from the amount I am claiming. Yours truly ----should I now give them a call as well to ask if they have received my letter? Also probably should have sent recorded/signed for and only sent via 1st class - should I send it again? Mazza
  6. Hi, Bro is away snowboarding in Austria this week so cant see how he can do anything until he comes back.. I acutally spoke to the company he is dealing with and asked them to send me out thier application form - I received it yesterday - they charge 25%! and want your NI number and Date of Birth! I wish I knew if they were any good - but it just feels dodgy to me - Should I contact my brother A.S.A.P?., although he's on holiday? (spoil his holiday??) Arghh Maz
  7. My brother has filled in and sent a claim form through a local firm that are dealing with bank charges claims. The form they got him to fill him requested his Bank Account Number, Sort Code, DATE OF BIRTH? and NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER? Should they be asking for DOB & NI - I have got very worried on brothers behalf as I cannot see the relevance of this personal information in making the claim for bank charges!!! I'm worried that this could be a means of identity theft? (THATS WHY IM DOING MY OWN CLAIM) Anyone with any Idea about this pleeese let me know!! mazza
  8. Hows it going now spoonerl - are you any closer to a win? Interested Newbie mazza
  9. HI there everyone, Am I angry -yes I am - -just like a lot of people must be who have found their way here, I have received another £55.00 in charges because I went £4.05 over my credit limit Abbey edited I hav'nt had any charges since February 2006 but this has just made me so angry especially after what they did to me in November 2005 when they charged me £350 in the space of 3 days!!! Ive only had my account with them since August 2004 but I have every statement and I have already done a spreadsheet of all the charges less a couple of refunds they decided to allow me - so what next? & which letter first. I want to claim back £790.00 (it may not seem like much to some but its a lot to me), should I also be claiming 8% interest p.a. or does this not apply until It goes on to small claims court? maza
  10. Thankyou redinet, Yes my home insurance does cover cards both inside and outside the home and this is why the Card proteciton was unneccasary and why I ignored their letter. I am getting it together to call them when I finish work & will post after I have spoken with them. Also i feel I must apologise to you sarahjaneD for jumping in on your thread. I was mixed up I thought I had gone back to the previous page - sorry !! mazza
  11. I have looked into their CPP in their website and found their addresss for complaints also I have added the link because they say that they have the 14 day cooling period, but I was not aware of that...this is the link to their PPI pdf, in case anyone else needs it... http://www.argos.co.uk/wcsstore/argos/en_US/images/argosfs/pdf/CPP.pdf So I take it that the next step is to get a Data Protection letter off to them? Otherwise which letter should I use? I'm confused and especially as I am just getting it together to claim bank charges from Abbey as well. Cheers mazza
  12. I am extremely miffed with Abbey as they would not remove charges when I went £6.70 over my overdraft last month. I have gone through my statements and found £790.00 in charges for going over overdraft since December 2004 the charges are for refused Direct Debits & Chequest + debit card instructions refused. I am going to use the 1st letter template, but I wondered should I not be getting my account into the black before I start the proceedings? I am currently £350 over drawn on my £600 overdraft limit. The worst time for fees was November 2005 when £380 was charged over the space of a few weeks. Most of the transactions where paypal payments and although they had the same instruction numbers they were paid seperately and charged at £30 each then £35 each because they had upped their rate. They have bounced direct debits a day before clearing cheques deposited the week before to cover them! Do I have a good case here, how have others done facing up to Abbey? mazza
  13. ARGOS PPI I have held an argos card for over 12 months now, when I took the card I declined PPi. Now they have and started to add the PPI premiums to my Argos card account and are charging interest on them. Card Protection Plan (CPP) is the company who they run their PPI through send you a letter which I "threw away without reading as I did'nt want the CPP". When I phoned ARGOS card services I was told that basically I was required to let CPP know that I did not want their PPI otherwise it was started automatically, which it has. I owed nothing at all on my ARGOS card and now there have been two payments made with charges and I have a ballance of £37.00 to pay. Has anyone any Idea about this one - has it come up before. Surely this is extortion. maza
