  1. I got full refund from loanfinder as well. They know they are in the wrong so will want a quiet settlement.
  2. I got the same default notice about the same time. I have given up dealing with welcome a long time a go because they could never tell me why my settlement figure was always higher than my balance! Bunch of idiots at best. I phoned the cccs I think that was given on the accompanying letter. When I explained the settlement figure they suggested it might be easier just to get the default and deal with whoever takes on the debt. Welcome will not see another Christmas and indeed may not make it past this summer. Everyone is just waiting on the end game ending.
  3. It remains to be seen what will be done with the loan book. However WElcome's history is out there and everyone in the finance industry will be aware of the trouble buying bad debt will bring. It's interesting how welcome hassle some people more than others. Time will tell what welcome plans to do with the uncollected debts but in the meantime they will try to collect as much as possible by any means.

  6. This company is so unprofessional and indeed they appear to have no morals. My account is currently with a dca with whom I am now disputing it with. Basically as usual Wonga ignored me and the FLA who I asked to mediate. They defaulted my account while it was in dispute. How this company can get a license to trade is beyond my comprehension. Hopefully the dca will learn a lesson and ask more questions the next time.
  7. Twinkletoes31, I do agree that the money should be paid back. Like numerous other people on this site is that Wonga threatening people with Solicitor's (Chainey ETc) letters from a solicitor who never existed. They had no intention of taking anyone to court. Secondly when you repy to the letter you get no response obviously because the solicitor is non existing. Finally when you complain directly to Wonga or through the FLA (of which they are an associate member) all you get is silence. They do not repsond to complains even from their association! Does that sound like a professional well run company?
  8. The long awaited and clearly apparent news has arrived. Welcome will be collecting out the loans. Not offering any new loans to existing or new customers. They reckon it will take 2-3 years to collect what remains. My guess would be it will not even take 2 years.
  9. Just had welcome on the phone. It's now twice daily. I asked for a settlement figure which funny enough turns out to be the balance. No discount as usual for paying early. I do not know how they work there figures. When asked about the solicitors letter that the branch sent almost 4 months they don't know anything about it. I just wish they would take me to court.
  10. Welcome are supposed to send you a letter to notify you of a charge that has been added to your account. You have 28 days to pay this before interest is applied. I qoute the opening line. " This notice is being given in compliance with The Consumer Credit Act 1974 because we have charged you the following default sums under your agree with us" So anyway 2 charges have been appplied which are letters. The charges have to be for previous similar letters. therefore I am charged £10 for them informing me of a previous charge! Will just have to keep lodging complaints with FOS while I wait on Welcome's cheque from the first case!
  11. This company makes the FSA a laughing stock. What gives them the right to completely ignore complaints/correspondence, what gives them the right to lie about so called "solicitors". My complaint with the fla has got no where because Wonga refuse to cooperate. Its about time the Government took action against these sorts of companies.

  13. Hi Sol, You arequite correct to appeal the decision. My own experience is not to the FOS is all knowledgeable. Indeed I have turned down two offers already. The first offer was £140 and now it currently stands close to £800. However they didn't include any compensation for the amount of hassle of letters and phone calls I had to make. So who knows I may not accept their 3rd offer.

  16. Confused, I would letyour bank away lightly with this. After you paid in good faith. Indeed you have now lost access to your own money for at least a few days. I would also issue a complaint to Welcome themselves. And I certainly wouldn't be paying them next month if you haven't received the money back by then.
  17. well done on the work. It seems welcome are delaying things against. Perhaps I am being unfair as they probably can't make head nor tail of their own statements. Anyway never accept the first offer readily. I am now on the second improvement so from being offered nothing I am now at £600+. It seems welcome know they are finished that why they are taking desperate measures.
  18. Absolutely fascinating. Only model customers will get a top up ie no missed payments, credit checks, working 16 hours and earning over £500 a month. What is even more interesting is the common questions. The major surprise omissions are where is my sar and cca requests? why is my balance so high? What has happened to my complaint? Do note the 24hr payment line. I guess they are working round the clock to collect money. I understand that there have been some changes to Welcome Finance, how does this affect my loan? Welcome Finance is no longer lending to new customers.   19. I did notice that I was phoned more than two weeks early asking if I was making payment this month. Interesting times I think as obviously someone told them a couple of weeks ago that they weren't collecting sufficient money quick enough. Looks like they are accelerating their closing down sale.
  20. Post, Do I take that the account is now officially in dispute. Therefore is there a case for freezing interest and fees.
  21. I agree post time is against welcome that's why they want as much cash asap. After nearly 2 years of dispute with welcome I am more battle hardened than ever. The longer it goes on and the more welcome make things difficult then the more determine I am to expose them.
