Thanks for that lou, Its all the support on here that makes us all keep going I think and in a soppy kind of way , although I have not and probably wont meet any one from this site, I think of you all as one big family united in the BIG SHAKE UP. I will think of it the way you suggested, makes a lot of sense. I know that we will all get there in the end if we hold on and remember that there is so many of us doing exactly the same thing and all getting support of each other , HOW CAN WE LOSE. I have one bug-bear and that is the interest, ive looked over the links and re-looked over the links but figures were never my strong point, but hey, Ill do it. hi all, well still had no reply yet from SHABBY. Got till 30th then it looks like ill have to send a Letter of None Compliance to them.I think that gives them another 7 days to respond, if my memory serves me right. Theve had about 107 days now or thereabouts so I think Ive been very patient, and then some:mad: . Ive been reading how a lot of you have been warning that they are the hardest ones to get anywhere with and believe me I'm begining to think your all right. Talk about getting blood from a stone, I think that would be easier to do.If only there was an easier way ,like if they would admit they were in the wrong to take our money. Wouldnt life be sweet8) . There again, we wouldnt have as much fun at seeing them tryin to wriggle out of it though ,would we?:grin: Guess another few days wont matter as long as the outcome is worth it and I know it will be. Wouldnt mind so much if my claim was a vast amount like some , in comparison its only small but its still my money and the worm is turning .No more shall I stand for some smug little girl behind the counter telling me that its ok for them to take my money and that I should manage my financial affairs better . its my own fault for being a bad manager . Well ok I hold my hands up to that one, I, like everyone else , do like some little luxouries in my life. hi theo, here again in the wee small hours tryin to get my head to remember all the things im supposed to do. Your right , its a good feelin when your kids look at you in a different light and you should be proud of yourself. Im sure mine think this is just another of Mums hairbrained schemes and that i wont follow it through. Oh how wrong they are. perhaps they will see that mums not just here to make meals and do the housework and mumsy things we all do.(even though mums really chewing her nails down to the elbow). Im gonna take this to the hilt .Its my money and I want it back. Ive worked hard for it and its betteroff in my pocket than thiers. Im still waitin for all my statements off shabby , got till the 1st May , then hopefully ill get them before havin to take them to court for non compliance. hi theo, I am like you cant tear myself away from this site. I too am trying to get the abbey to refund MY money. I'm not as shaky as I was about doing this thanks to some very special people on here. You are never left to "GO IT ALONE" So many fine minds on here, sometimes I feel so dumb in comparison. Dont know your age but I know that as I get older the mind doesnt seem to take things in as fast. I find myself going over and over the threads in the hope that something will stick. . I sit here till all hours of the morning just reading and going on different links, there is so much to learn, and trying to do the spreadsheets, my poor old head , seeing figures in my sleep. lol. One thing is for sure though, when I get this one under my belt Im gonna go for the credit card sharks . OOOOOOOOOOO getting a proper little vigilante I am . Im gonna give myself a big pressie if I pull this off. That will show the kids Mums not to be messed with. FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT I say .

Thanks again Sea-Side. It is all a bit (no a lot) daunting this law stuff. Yet funnily enough I find it quite exciting too. I've never dreamed of doing anything quite like this before, did'nt think I had it in me to be honest. My family think I've gone nuts I swear as my topic of conversation always seems to be about the CAG nowadays, lol. Just cant seem to get enough of this site,(and my typing is improving too) . There is just one flyin the ointment for me at the moment. I cant seem to get my head round the interest part, try as I may . I read about it then re-read about it. I've just had my son here trying to explain it to me . "Well mum, can you see what I mean ?" he says. "Do this and this and this comes up here then do that and this appears, times this by that" !!!!!!! Whooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh my brain screams but my mouth opens and out comes "Oh yes, now I can see" DOH NOT!:? I'll keep on plodding on though, determined not to let it beat me, I'll whip this brain into shape yet. lol:)

hi all sent prelim to halifax on 18-14-07 and today received reply "Thank you for recant complaint. We are sorry tolearn you are unhappy with charges debited to your bank account. Please note the complaint handling rules set by our regulator, the Financial Services Authority, gives us 8 weeks to investigate and respond to complaints" From what i gather reading other similar threads I should ignore this but do I just wait for the 14 days to be up and then send the LBA. hi can somebody advise me please. Im a bit confused. Does it matter how long you wait to send a preliminary letter to the bank after youve received your statements. Do you need to do this straight away or can you wait a while.?:?

hhi louis forgot to say that I paid cash the first time requested. When I sent the DPA letter I put a cheque in , but as of yet it has not been cashed.

hi louis Thanks for taking time to reply hope I can answer your questions. I have a letter off Pam Speed dated 23rd Jan. "Thanks for recent communication, which we received on 4th Jan,requesting information on your account. The transactional information you require is available on our systems amd will be forwarded to you, free of charge, under seperate cover" I rang number on letter on 26th Jan at 15-30 hrs.Spoke to Lisa whothen got in touch with my local branch and told me there was a backlog.(I wonder why) I also informed her that I had paid the fee at local branch on 30th Dec so I was not getting them FREE. !9th Feb 18-20 hrs rang number again , again went through to local branch and spoke to Cheryl who informed me they were ordered and I would get them soon. No joy from them so I thought that this was because I had not submitted request via DPA letter so I sent them a DPA on 5th March . Reply back from my local branch dated 9th March "Thank you for your recent letter concerning the refund of bank charges on your account. I have forwarded your letter onto our specialist team who will be dealing with your request and will contact you shortly" Then the standard microfiche shpeel. Rang again 11 th April spoke to Jayne reminded her the 40 days were nearly up and that I hadnt heard anything and she said she would fax request through. Deadline up 16 th April no reply so 17th I sent off LBA, but, and here is where I think I may have boobed, instead of giving them 7 days I put 14 days. Waiting for some reply. Does this answer your questions. I really appreciate all your help. Thanks again.

hi louis thanks for all your help first of all. As you might suspect I'm a little bit thick when it comes to posting and making threads. Please feel free to merge the two, I'm ashamed to admit this but I was under the impression that everytime I wanted to put something on here I had to make a new thread , now I take it this isnt the case. WHOOPS,Will I ever get the hang of things I wonder. Anyhow here goes i'll start from the begining. Went into my local branch 30th Dec paid £10 fee and asked for 6yrs sratements. No problem there then, no letter just asked.About 2 wks later recieved 18mths worth statements, usual letter microfishe blah blah. On refrlection I thought perhaps I should have posted a DPA done the right thingand that perhaps that was why things were being held up. Waited and waited rang them up a coupkle of times to ask where statements were, told they would look into it. Convinced myself I had done it all wrong so on 5th March I sent a DPA with a cheque for £10, (which I might add has not been cashed yet). Received letter off my local branch stating that " As we do not keep records here we will pass request on to the appropriate branch . They will deal with it". Ok I thought, well there is the proof that had got my letter as stupid me did not record it. Waited some more then on 11th April rang and local branch and enquired if they could perhaps find out what was going on , was told they would fax my enquiry on. 16th April deadline up for DPA no word from Abbey.Sent them LBA requesting rest of information and giving them another 14 days. Sent it Recorded delivery as well this time. Hope I have got it right. Do you think I should make complaint yet or wait till 14 days are up? I would appreciate your opinion .Thanks

seein as how youve got the hang of things can i pick your brains? Im debating whether or not to complain about shabby to the Commisioner cause after all I have been waitin a total of 106 days now for the statements , only recieved 18 mths worth first off but was worried didnt do things right. Sent another DPA letter in March with another Fee had acknowledgement for letter but no statements as the person who dealt with letter said they would pass it on. Still cant decide what to do though as Ive told them I will give them another 14 days to comply.

Hi can anyone give me a bit of advise please. I'v just printed out a letter to Halifax ( Penalty and unfair charges- request for refund) but I'm not sure if this is the right one. Ive got all the statements so know how much I' claiming back but on looking around the different sites on here my letter is different to the Prelim one and that one says I should send a schedule of charges as well. Do I put amount of charges with corresponding dates on a seperate piece of paper and send these off. Sorry but now totally confused and I'm nervous about doing this , sure I' mess up and be the exception to the rule. Advice Please.
