  1. Just checked my account - the whole amount has gone in! What a fantastic bloody result! Good luck to you all...it really is worth it. I just got back £1191! x
  2. I received a letter from Halifax yesterday, detailing just why the charges are acceptable and how I had signed to agree to the terms and conditions and so on...this led to their "goodwill gesture" of returning £1191 (£60 more than claimed). I had to sign a form stating this is the only claim I will make against these charges. Interestingly, i had asked for a breakdown of the costs involved to them that allow them to justify such high charges. They replied that they have no obligation to release that information as it is commercially sensitive. Has this ever been disputed through the Data Protection Act? Thought I might take it on myself, if not...
  3. Hello! After my LBA letter reached its deadline, yesterday, I raised a claim via MCOL. This morning, Halifax called me and said they wished to resolve the matter. they offered me £800, of a claimed amount of £1131. I politely refused. He asked me what I would accept, to which I replied "the full amount owed". This he agreed to, even adding £60 in charges I had overlooked to the total! I have now withdrawn the claim and had confirmation that they will refund my fee! I will let you know when it is all paid into my account - can't quite believe it! Many thanks for all the help from this site...I will donate when the money comes through!
  4. I called Halifax Customer Services yesterday and they stated they had 4 weeks to reply to me. They stated something about this being the guideline time limit set by the FSA. I just reiterated the deadline in my letter and the consequences of not reaching that deadline. They really weren't very interested though...
  5. Strangely, I just went to my local Halifax Branch and asked at the help desk for my statements. He asked me why I wanted them and then ordered them for me. There was no charge at all and I received the statements in a couple of days!
  6. Well I went to my local branch of Halifax and asked for 6 years of statements. Although I was asked why I wanted them ( for an application, I replied ), there was no charge made and the statements arrived in three days. No money taken from my account either!
  7. Hello, I have recently sent my first letter to Halifax, asking for the return of my bank charges. However, it has occured to me since that my (now closed and paid off) Halifax Credit Card had a number of charges. As I have not included these in my request, is it now too late. Or, as Halifax Card Services are a different company, can I make a seperate claim for them? Your advice would be helpful!
  8. Hi - new to the site so hello to you all! 7 days ago today, I sent my first letter to Halifax, requesting the return of £1131 from charges applied over the last six years. They acknowledged the letter but nothing since.... Hoping for a quick resolution but suspect to go all the way to setting a court date... Will let you know how I progress!
  9. Hi, I have just joined this site. I am in the process of requesting the return of bank charges totalling £1,131. I have sent the initial letter and have received an acknowledgement from Halifax. In this, they have assigned my complaint a 'fix-it' number.... It has been one week today since they received it and I am a little worried that banks are going to start fighting back sooner rather than later. Great informative site - thank you!
