  4. Hi, Sorry to drag up an old topic, but the council have finally come back to me. Yes they will sell us the land, but they have advised that the previous owner put a stipulation on the land stating that if the council sell it on the next owner cannot build on it. I don't understand how this can be the case?
  5. Hi folks, Thanks for the further updates. Yes this was an unknown at the time of booking (to be honest she wasn't even pregnant it was booked that long ago. Our insurance is with Virgin insurance. Also when we travel she will be 22 weeks. I am pretty sure that this is fine to travel, I would prefer not to get a doctors letter trying to get something to say she is unfit to travel, just don't want to tempt fate really. If I can't claim it on the insurance, then I will just accept the loss (our own fault for not being careful, but its a good thing it happened) I suppose one thing in my favour/or against me is that the Virigin insurance doesn't seem to mention pregnancy at all as far as I can see. Thanks again guys, I will contact them tonight. Regards Colin
  6. Yeah, this is pretty much what I am asking. We don't really want to go due to the cost of a hotel and stuff. We feel that we could really spend the cash better elsewhere. But we will lose out on our flight money. She doesn't have any medical problems or anything, which is a good thing. Just trying to see if we can maybe not lose out on the cash. The only reason I ask, is because when I asked easyjet for a refund (don't ask don't get n all that jazz) they replied with this Oh and thanks for the congrats
  7. Hi, Looking for some advice. We paid for some flights via easyjet at the start of the year costing around £500. My Wife is now 3 months pregnant, and we don't think we can really afford to pay for a hotel for us and the 2 kids with another on the way, so we were going to transfer the flights to next year. This alone costs a fortune as you need to pay per flight (one way) per person. My Insurance policy says the following, the 1st price in ££ is what we have. Included in the coverRedSilverGoldBlack Cancellation and curtailment£2,000£3,000£5,000£7,500 Medical Expenses and repatriation£5,000,000£10,000,000£15,000,000Unlimited Hospital benefitna£1,000£1,500£2,000 Travel delayna£300£400£500 Holiday abandonment£2,000£3,000£5,000£7,500 Hijackna£500£500£1,000 Missed departure£800£500£1,000£1,500 Personal accident Loss of limbs or sight (aged under 66)£10,000£20,000£50,000£75,000 Permanent total disablement (aged under 66)£10,000£20,000£20,000£75,000 Death benefit (aged 18 to 65)£5,000£5,000£25,000£35,000 Death benefit (aged under 18)£1,000£2,500£2,500£3,500 Personal liability£2,000,000£2,000,000£2,000,000£3,000,000 Catastrophena£1,000£1,000£1,500 Legal Expenses£10,000£15,000£50,000£60,000 Pet carena£200£500£750 Max trip duration365 days365 days365 days365 days Excess - can vary from the amount shown, see full details (can also be doubled or waived).£75£60£50£0 Thanks in Advance Colin
  8. Thanks Shelly, good to know. Succesfully claimed back from one of my banks a few years ago, so I will need to find any old info I have on these cards.
  9. The responses I have are that they will be doing some work on the drainage. I don't have anything else from them, and certainly nothing admitting it was there fault. Should I pursue with a complaint to the council 1st, and see what they say?
  10. Hi, I have a piece of land beside my house, and this is not a flood plane. It is bushes, and trees. There are 2 drains at this land and they had fences built over them by the council, which led to the area being flooded on several occasions. One of the times I had to make a claim through my buildings insurance, which shot the insurance right up. I have tried to get insurance since then, but been told that they want assurances we will not be flooded again (bit like asking me to stop it raining!) Anyway, the council has since moved the fences to go around the drains. I have pictures of the fencing before and after, also the flooding outside, and the flooding reaching my floorboards inside the house. I spoke with the council today asking about this as I am looking to buy a bit of land as per my thread http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?270656 and was hoping to get it at a discount price. They said this was a totally different issue, and would need to take it up elsewhere. I am looking for some advice on wither or not I should contact a lawyer? This happened around 3 years ago last November/December. Also, does having no buildings insurance void my Mortgage? Kind Regards Colin
  11. I don't know if I was mis sold it, I definetely had it, but it clearly wasn't usable when I tried to use it. So I suppose yes I was, as I believed this would cover me being sacked and reinstated
  12. Hi, I have now been told that they have postcarded my neighbour about us buying this land. I assume this is to see if there are any objections. I am still hoping that they give me some sort of discount due to the flooding we got and the fact that they are not maintaining it, but I don't imagine that they will!
  13. Hi, Back in early 2000 - 2003 I had credit cards that I defaulted on, and they all had the insurance on them. I know this as I was sacked from a job, and was unable to claim the insurance on them, which was what then led me to default. When I appealed the decision to sack me from the job, I was succesful and got it back, however this took a full 6 months, and by this time i was in real trouble with the cards. They didn't seem to care as I tried to get them to pay through my insurance I had taken out, and as I was no longer sacked. Is there anything I can do about this, or should I just forget it? The defaults are now off my account, and I am starting to build my credit rating again, but this really affected my credit rating, and eventually led to me having to take a WelScum loan out when paying for my house. (Looks like I will be paying this loan for the rest of my life!) The Credit cards were with Lloyds TSB Kind Regards Colin
  14. Hi, I checked, and the land is not a flood plain. Basically the council had a fence blocking the drains, we got flooded, and after we complained they have moved the fence, and also put in an extra drain. No flooding since then. I just want to use this to try and push forward my case of getting the land from them, with them not cutting the trees, but also from the fact that they blocked the drains initially. And even maybe get it cheaper. Chased them 4 times since my last reply and still heard nothing back Kind Regards Colin
  15. Does it help that I was flooded a few years ago because the council built a fence over the drain, and they have since moved this fence, and it no longer floods? I have pictures of this also
