  1. PS - Can this be linked to the Lloyds thread please? I can't seem to get into it. Many thanks again.
  2. Mrs. Badger has had a letter from Lloyds TSB saying that an amount equal to the whole of the charges she is claiming plus the 8% will be credited to her account within 10 days. So take courage everybody and keep claiming! Thank you CAG - we couldn't have done it without you and are making a donation to the site. We had sent the LBA and were on the point of taking the claim to court when the letter came through. We had waited a couple of weeks beyond the dealine we had set them because we couldn't afford the £80 court fee until we got paid last Friday. The amount claimed was £567 and they have paid out £619. I wonder if they used the CAG spreadsheet to calculate the interest?!! Thanks again from a very happy Mr. & Mrs. Badger
  3. Hello, posting on the Lloyds thread as requested - Lloyds tactic in response to our initial letter was to say the charges were the fair 'price' for operating the account when my wife went over the overdraft limit. The moderator has recommended we proceed to the Letter Before Action, and I will edit this and send and see what happens. Many thanks to all.
  4. Lloyds replied to our initial letter in which we queried the amount of charges for going over the overdraft limit - as much as £90 in one instance - and asked them to refund the difference between these and the true cost to them of administering the occasions on which the limit was exceeded. They merely say that these are the 'prices' for opereating the account and refuse to cancel the charges. The step by step guide advises going on to the 'Letter before Action' stage if they don't reply, but I am unsure what to do now that we have had a reply which does not actually answer our request or make an offer. Do we now proceed to the 'letter before action'? Your guidance would be most appreciated! Thank you.
  5. Thanks folks, Sorry to be slow acknowledging due to being out of action for a few days. Your advice is most welcome and helpful and I have tabulated our claim on that basis. I have to agree about navigating around the site - there is so much useful information I never know where to start! Great Stuff, Mr. Badger
  6. Hello everyone, My wife and I discovered the site following a Guardian Money article the other week. We were wondering how far back you can claim. My wife in particular can recall getting penalty charges as far back as the 1980's. Is there a cut-off point? Many thanks in anticipation.
