  4. The son of a friend of Mrs Stone had a similar situation a couple of years ago when his business got into problems, his home was repossesed and and he took the big B. Now he is back on his feet with a smaller business and also has a mortgage. he says it was the best thing to do at the time. Take your time and give it serious thought Tills.

  6. Just a thought Tils, Have you tried your local housing assn ? a couple in my area have been known to buy ex council houses back from the owners and leave them as sitting tenants when their local stock of properties has been low for peeps in similar situs to to yours.
  7. after a quick look at the letter Tills, at the bottom it suggests you ask for their "repossesion guide" might be worth asking them for that. cant do any harm at least
  8. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/benefits-tax-credits-minimum/108952-claim-charges-taken-benefits.html http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/abbey-bank/96365-abroadgirl-abbey.html These are the two threads I was looking for. they are long reads so take your time, and again, good Luck we are all fighting the same war
  9. This is about standard for shabby, they will bombard you with paperwork and emails, trying to confuse you. The fact that the charges appear to be unlawfully taken from your benefit is not proven in law and is not a safe course of action to take. Write to the bank ask them for all your statements and/or a list of charges applied to your account and dont forget the £10 cheque. then follow the tried and tested method that MTM has advised in his usual blunt way, it is good advice. I helped a fellow cagger in a similar case, and the Judge stated that he was unable to make any decision regarding taking charges from benefits although he did agree in general with our interpretation. But there has never been a ruling from the High Court. I will try to find the link to a thread that whent down this route and it may help you to see the problem better. Good luck with your claim and dont let them mess you around stick to YOUR timetables and dont let them distract you. It is your money after all, Stone
  10. That is very good advice from Marooned. If there is anything that you do not understand, then just ask, there is always some-one around to answer. Do not be afraid to ask even if it seems a stupid question, we have all asked them at some time or another, and only stupid people do not ask questions. Good Luck, and remember IT IS YOUR MONEY. Stone
  11. www.ico.gov.uk You can contact the I.C.O. by email at the above address. If you have a legitimate complaint then they will take it up for you and offer advice on how to proceed next. Good Luck

  13. Dramatic About Turn As Barclays Cuts Overdraft Charges |Sky News|Business "Barclays says it has been able to reduce its charges as a result of breakthroughs in its handling systems, with a far greater automated service." reading this it would appear that Barclays have got computerised. Or is the start of a war for customers? :???:
  14. Dramatic About Turn As Barclays Cuts Overdraft Charges |Sky News|Business Are they trying to tell us that they are now computerised?

  17. When we were on housing list We were listed low priority, We had to get out of rented accom. they told us no hope. in fact one day we recieved a letter from them telling us that due to shortage of houses, our position, lack of points etc that they were removing us from list. the very next day, we had another letter from them offering us a house, which we turned down after viewing they then offered another which we are still in today. Like all big organisiations Tills right hand does not know what left hand is at. LOL so dont worry too much about where to go, they usualy find something. I have sent other info snail mail to you.
