  1. Hello again... well i've finally received the SAR info. its pretty confusing and i'm doing my best to go over some of the older threads to see if some of the questions i have are answered. i hope this is not to boring for some of you but i just want to make sure i fully understand what is being said... i understand i can claim back the following: the commision column - the commision refund column (a) fees column minus the fess refunded column (b) HOWEVER, when calculating the latter i must not included the privilege account fee. correct? SO my total bank charges that i can claim should be the total of the commission + the total of the fees. or (a) + (b) IS that right? Also, i don't have 6 years worth of statements. so when i' eventually fill out my spreadsheet detailling the charges, i won't be able to list the reason for the charges. is it that right? sorry again for bugging some of you, i have read the older threads, i just need to verify whta i have read and not mess everything up... CHEERS!!!
  2. hello subpop! i sent a SAR about the same time as you (the 4th of April to be precise) but have not yet heard back from the Co-op...
  3. many thanks to all, particularly lateralus and netty g. i accepted an offer of 1400 on a claim of 1700. without the help of this forum it would not have been possible. i've persuaded my partner to carry out a claim with his back he Co-op...
  4. Hello the co op user group! Well after succesfully claiming £1400 for myself from the HSBC , i've convinced my partner to go and claim his bank charges from the co-op. He sent the SAR letter on the 4th of April, and has not heard from them as yet. he rang today to see what the situation was and they told him to write again! he asked for his statements over the phone and they wanted to charge him £5 per statement! any advice to move things on?
  5. wow, lateralus, thank so much for your quick response. you truly are dedicated to this cause and really helpful to boot. I've drafted a letter, included copies of my letters and their offer letters and will be posting it first thing... on a side issue my partner, seeing the success of my claims has sent off his SAR letter to the Co-op. the statutuary 40 days is nearly up and still no word from the buggers... thats it for now, but thanks again for all your help
  6. OK, after much thought and consideration my partner and I decided to accept the two offers being made to us by HSBC. they were pretty close and we felt with our very busy lives (3 year old and 3 month old!) that a 90% offer was enough for us considering all we did was write a few strongly worded letters. that was about 3 weeks ago! not heard a peep out of them since and no sign of the money in the bank... what to do i wonder? is there a phone number we can call? do i now need to reconsider court action? we are very confused indeed?!? help please!!!
  7. ok, well after much discusion and calculating, we finally decided to accept the two offers being made to us. since the first offer was pretty much bang on and the second one 130 quid off (they had reimbursed a 170 pound charge which we had included in the total) we felt satified. so i used lateraluses templates and accepted the offers. so this morning i received a letter from Colin Langdale (I feel really sorry for his secretary, her fingers must be numb from all that typing) asking me to sign there acceptace form, despite sending an acceptance letter! what to do? is this a trick??? confused...
  8. thank Lateralus for these templates... am having to much fun in the garden to do these now, but will be back in the evening so will have a go then... enjoy the chocolate!
  9. happy easter all! well after much thought, we have decided to go with your suggestion lateralus. we are going to accept the £500 offer and reject the other offer. one thing preying on my/our mind though is that the second letter (the one offering the £500), says this is in relation to our claim for a return of £1800 which is our combined total across the three accounts whereas the first letter addressed only to me is in relation to the amount acrued across my two personal accounts.... I'm scared they might be trying to pull a fast one and therefore see this as a way clearing the whole claim away, despite the first letter's offer. any advice on this? will wait for a response before we send thru our acceptance form/letter. so a big yes please to your offer of the suggested draft letter to accept the first offer and deny the 2nd. hope your all enjoying the sunshine:D
  10. the plot thickens... first of all thanks for your replies... just to recap, i was claiming for charges across three accounts, two held by me, the other a joint account held by me and my partner. so this morning we receive a second letter from hsbc. The first letter was addressed to me, this second letter is adressed to my partner and i. this time, the amount we originally asked for is correct. £1800. the amount they are offering is £520. the charges on that account alone are actually £500 pounds. so a pretty close offer. Also i worked out how they got to £1238 in the first letter. this is the total charges in the accounts held by me. the amount offered there is £899 so i figure what they have done is (and badly) is work out what they owe me, then what they owe me and my partner. the two offers combined add up to £1419. so the conundrum is... can we we accept both offers? if so, do we carry on? ummm...
  11. hello again, a new condrum has arisen... we sent off our second letter on friday asking for a total of 1800 pounds wich with interest rose to just over 2000 pounds. tuesday morning we receive a letter from hsbc offering us 899 pounds back! great, but obvioulsy we intend to reject it and proceed with our full claim. however in the banks letter they said we originally claimed for only 1238 pounds. where did they get this figure from?? confused and at work so will check back in later...
  12. thanks netty, i kinda thought that that was the plan anyway. i just wanted some encouragement! letter 2 will be drafted tonite and posted recorded delivery tomorow am!
  13. hello again, well i sent my first letter 16 days ago. i have not heard from the bank. at all. no letter denying the claim, no leaflets explaining their charges. nothing. nada. niente. zilch... so do i just carry on and send letter 2? or shall i resend letter 1? help please fellow CAG'ers...
  14. thanks lateralus. just putting the finishing touches to letter1 and have been sidetracked by Netty's thread. all 32 pages of it...extremely informative, if a little scary despite the positive outcome! bye for now...
  15. thanks lateralus for your speedy responses. am sat at desk now taping in the numbers to work out the interest. one problem is that i am unsure as to what the charges were for exactly. as in it just says: "total Charges" but doesn't actually explain wether it was for a failed direct debit or using my card without the proper funds available. Any clues as to wether this is important or not? cheers!
