  1. i am on disability allowance, as is my youngest daughter. My partner wants to leave work and look after us. (he is on s.s.p from work, this is mentioned in a previous post) However, i am somewhat confused by all the jargon, the re-directions etc when we try to look into it. Can anyone please advise me on how we go about it, whether we may be entitled to carer's allowance etc. Many Thanks
  2. How is this the case? My partner had an income of £13,500, we have 2 children, so get child tax credits, child benefit and i am also in receipt of disability allowance, yet combined totals nowhere near this amount you had as an income and we are NOT eligible for ANY help with housing benefit. We rent and our rent is £375, although, if the social wanted to pay us £625 we would ertainly be living in a beautiful house. Sorry to be a bit 'catty', but I cant believe you was entitled to help on 22k and we aren't? This is so unfair.
  3. Hi We are a family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids). My partner has to finish work because I am not very well and can't look after the children on my own. I am currently receiving disability allowance, and also awaiting a decision on a claim for disability allowance for my youngest child. We have been told that if my partner leaves his job, then we are not able to claim any benefits for a while. However, for the welfare of the family, my partner has to be at home now. Can anyone help me here? Is this true? Would they leave us without any monies when we have children? *we are receiving ctc/dla/child ben @ the mo, we rent our property* Please help cos our family is falling apart and we are sinking further into debt as it is. Thanks
  4. It would have been june/july in 2000 I started paying lowell last year, probaby near to the beginning the last payment i made to lowell was october 2007
  5. AS PER OFT GUIDELINES SECTION 2.8K ''NOT CEASING COLLECTION ACTIVITY Doesn't that read wrong? if not to cease then it means it can continue??

But as i keep asking (probably cos i just dont have a clue) what exactly do i look for when i get that back, assuming they send it back? and if they dont send it back and lowell start chasing again do i have a leg to stand on or do i just have to pay? Thanks everyone
  7. Thanks I do apologise for asking so many questions, but obviously I have to understand what I am doing. Can you tell me please, as this is from over 6 years now, if they say they cannot provide the information, where do I stand then? Also, how do i know what charges are and aren't acceptable? Many Thanks
  8. Do i send this to the branch I had the account with or is there a main place for HSBC i would send it to?
  9. What is an S.A.R? How do i do that? and what if RED send me to court before i get chance to do anything?
  10. It was for an HSBC account I had. Basically I was working and had wages paid into the account I had with them, but then I finished with that company. On pay day i drew the money out to buy things I needed for my home. But on the same day the comapny withdrew part of the wage they had paid. The first I knew about this was when I received a letter saying my account was extremely overdrawn. I rang the bank immediately and asked them why this was, and they explained the above. I argued with them that this should not have been allowed to happen, that I should have been contacted if they had over paid me to arrange paying back. But they say they can do it on the same day as the money goes in. Then I never heard anything until last year when i was 25, it was 6 years later!! I panicked and its just gone from there really
  11. PLEASE HELP!!! Lowell had been collecting a debt on behalf of HSBC (which was from over 6 years ago and didn't realise all the ins and outs regarding a debt from so long ago, but i obviously started to pay hence them chasing now) I originally set up to pay by direct debit. However my partner lost his job so I had to cancel the direct debit as I couldn't pay. Then I sent a financial statement asking if I could pay a lower amount. They agreed and so I allowed the DD to be set back up. According to my bank it was never set up again, so I rang them (lowell) and they said they had received the payments. I argued this was not a payment from my account but they were adamant. I then received a letter saying I had failed to pay, and when I rang them they said I had cancelled the second DD (which i certainly didn't, it was never re-started). I made a payment with my debit card, then I received a letter saying due to an error they had lost the card details they had for the continous payment. I was quick on the phone as I never ever said they could set the card up. I was told that I needed to make another payment, then the details would be used to take the amount each month. I was/am willing to pay this, however I wasn't willing to set up the continuous card payments or another direct debit. I told them i would use different cards to pay each month (i have 2), and they said no, i had to set up the continous payments from one card or they would take me to court for a ccj and extra charges. They now will not allow me to pay the amount I was paying as I am unwilling to pay using my card (as i dont want them keeping my card details and i am worried they will), but I have asked them to send out payment slips. They wont do this and now will not let me pay unless I pay how they want - continous card payment automatically done OR a direct debit. I have received a letter from RED on behalf of Lowell who have said unless I make payments they are issuing a court claim. Where do I stand? What if i didnt even have a bank account? Surely they have payment slips?? And if a court claim is issued, do I have the chance to tell the judge my situation or is it done without me knowing until I am being demanded to pay a CCJ? Help?? Please!!! I dont like being threatened.
  12. a few years ago I ended up owing united utilities at a previous property. This was then passed on to Robinson Way. I was making payments and then found I couldnt afford them so I wrote to them to ask if they would reduce the payments. I sent a financial statement. I then received a letter to say that the debt was no longer being looked after by robinson way, and it had been taken back. This was a while back and I still have heard nothing. Powergen for the same property was being recovered by UDS, but I came to an arrangement and ever recieved the payment cards they were sending me.I even rang to make sure they were sending them to my current address. I then wrote to them in January and offered them 5 per month. That was all I could realistically afford. They rang me to tell me that they would not accept the amount offered as I had already breached an arrangement with them (i invited them to take me court so i could present the same information to the judge. I havent heard a thing since. What do I do? Also I did the same for Wescot (this was for BT, TELEWEST and GREENWOOD) They failed to supply a cca for greenwood and then said they had took the debt back so wescot werent dealing with it. But as for the other 2, not a thing since january. Moorcroft were chasing me for provident, eventually supplied a cca but then when i offered a payment, not a thing. Now wescot are chasing for the debt. What do I do?
  13. My credit card is over its limit by 75 pounds. I did ask them to cancel but they wouldnt. I owed a lot more than this. But they are ringing me every day. At first they were ringing at about 8pm, and I had a big argument telling them do not ring me at that time as I have 2 small children (they never tried during the day). I got a call the day after just before 8, then the day after that it was just before the time the previous night. I have asked them not to phone me at all. They are still ringing. They rang me today and again I asked them not to ring but to contact me in writing. I have received a further 2 calls this evening which I admit I didnt answer, but they were 15 minutes apart. What can I do? I have a lot of personal problems at the moment, and to make matters worse someone tried to break into my house last night so I am all worked up over that. Why wont they write to me and why wont they leave me the hell alone?
  14. LOWELL FINANCE They told me that even though I sent my financial statement, i had to give them all the information off the top of my head over the phone or they wouldn't deal with my query. I told them I had to cancel my direct debit and they told me that they refuse to cancel it on their part and will keep setting it up. I had to contact my branch manager for advise. Asking me when my mortgage was due, i said 1st of each month. I actually rent my property. I was told I had to remortgage my home just to pay the £190 owing to them as I had equity in it and also had to get rid of our car as it was on finance. I told them I was in bad health and they said they weren't interested in this. They are refusing to deal with me and say that I can afford more than I have offered despite having a negative disposable income. I feel really suicidal
  15. I have an account that is with Lowell Finance. I was paying £10.00 per month. It was originally agreed for a period of 3 months, but I didn't hear anything and continued to pay the amount. Then my circumstances changed. I couldn't afford the repayments to many of my creditors, so I wrote to them all asking for their help. I supplied a financial statement. I offered to pay £5.00 per month but stated that, as my circumstances improved I would pay more. I cancelled my direct debit.I stated on the letter 'please hold the account as I cannot afford the payment required'. I received a letter from them today asking me to fill the direct debit mandate in. I rang them and i was told that I couldn't cancel a direct debit at the bank, I had to cancel it with them first then my bank, and Lowell was unwilling to cancel it and said they would keep taking the monies. I was then told I had to give all my income details over the phone and I wouldn't as I supplied it to them a few weeks ago. He asked me when my mortgage was due, to which I said the 1st of the month. Actually I rent my home, but I was just trying to sort this out. I was told that I had equity in my home and I needed to remortgage it to pay them. I only owe them £190.83! Can someone please tell me where I stand and what to do with this? They wont accept my offer of repayment despite me having a negative disposable income. I am extremely bad health, and today it shows. I have heart problems and I cannot breath very well and I feel weak. With the way they are going I am going to drop dead and then they will not get their money anyway. I don't know what to do. Just someone, please help.
