    Basic Account Holder
  1. My bank has returned my direct debit to EDF with the reason being 'account holder deceased'! I received 3 letters from EDF to my 'executors'. I have complained to NatWest and they are taking forever to respond - 3 weeks at least so far. EDF had the good grace to give me £20 good will credit on my account even though it wasn't their fault. I was wondering what other people would expect in the way of an apology if it happened to them . I'm only 46:-x
  2. Thank you very much Endymion. I'm seeing her tomorrow so will pass this on
  3. Hi, my friend's husband has just died aged 60 leaving nothing for the family apart from several private pensions. The problem is that, although married and loving towards each other, my friend and her husband have lived in separate houses (different towns too) for many years. He was impossible to live with on a daily basis so the separate houses thing worked well and allowed their marriage to continue albeit in a different long-distance sort of way. However, he never signed a form (which the pension companies say he should have done) to make his wife the benefactor of the monies. They don't

  5. Hi, I wonder if anyone can help please. My friend is on the verge of divorce. He husband 'borrowed' her credit cards and ran up huge debts in her name. he is now living permanently abroad leaving her to raise the family alone and deal with these awful debts. He has paid nothing towards them and she has made an arrangement with the companies to pay a certain amount each month. Is there anything at all that she can do? The divorce papers are about to be served and we know that joint debt will be divided but it is these debts of hers which he has run up which will cause her significant hardship
  6. So pleased to see they have been closed down. We had a call from Stockport Trading Standards - who we originally reported this company to - asking for our permission for them to give our details to Greater Manchester Police. We said YES!!!! We got our money back through our bank eventually, hope you can all get yours back too.
  7. Yes this is how I got my money back. V quickly too. Funnily enough I had another response from Sam Higginson yesterday saying my claim for a refund was in dispute with head office and it will take another 14 days to get my refund!!! I took great delight in telling him that I had already received my refund. HA HA
  8. He said this to me too but after 15 days I was still waiting and he wouldn't respond to me at all. My bank just gave me a form and I signed to say I had not authorised the debit and 3 days later I got the money back.I would suggest to anyone that they go this route as it was trouble free. Good luck
  9. Yay!!! We've got our money back. Not sure yet if it's a refund obtained from TLG by our bank or from the company themselves. But we've got a full refund. No £5 reduction either.
  10. Hi, I think our money will be back soon as the bank are dealing with it. I had to sign a declaration to say I had not authorised the debit of £49.99 and they will then reclaim the money from TLG's bank. Also I did get a response eventually after e-mailing 'Sam Higginson' at TLG 5 times. I threatened him with the Greater manchester Fraud Squad and he responded much faster. Still waiting for the cheque.
  11. Hi everyone, I have been reading therse posts about The Lending Group with great interest. My disabled husband gave out our card details to these sharks (while I was out, or I wouldn't have let him!) after they told him that we had been accepted for a loan. We had completed an online application to get some quotes and they were one of a few companies who rang. Their words were 'we need to verify your bank details for the money transfer'. When I checked the accoutn £49.99 had gone. I contacted my bank immediately who told me that because it was a Solo card there was no insurance and t
  12. I have had problems with both Wescot & Moorcroft phoning me at home and being rude. I was with NTL at the time for my phone line and I switched to BT and now use 'Choose to refuse' where you pay 3.75 (I think) and the unwanted caller gets a message saying their call is not being accepted. Sometimes however the company comes up as 'withheld' and I simply never pick these calls up. I always put at the top of my letters to these people that I wish to communicate in writing only and not by telephone. MY husband is mentally ill and I have 3 children who I will not have upset by horrible phon
  13. Hi, I only registered today and have won against NatWest. I am a mum of 3 and sole carer of a disabled husband. On 2nd Jan I noticed that the bank had charged me 76 pounds for 2 unpaid dds. The dds only came to 40 pounds so the charges they levied caused an overdraft! I couldn't understand it as there was sufficient money in there to cover them. I wrote immediately as I felt too scared to 'phone. I searched 'Unfair NatWest' in Google and found you, found the strength to ring them and they offered half the money back. I then used one of the Natwest e-mail contacts on this site and within an hou
  14. Hi, so glad to have found you. Can't believe what I have read on here. I have been arguing with Natwest over some unfair charges and have followed your advice. I will post the whole story in a more suitable thread. Cheers!
