  1. Hi, Since the ruling in November 2009 which has made it hard to claim the bank charges back I was wondering if someone could give me any advice on what to do. NatWest has charged me a total of £40 in charges due to unpaid item £5, going over my overdraft £15 and maintaince fee £20. I was wondering if there was any point of me trying to get these charges back. I will admit that due to a problem with a website who took out a payment (subscription) they made me over drawn and I didn't see it until after 3pm. The website has now refunded the money back to me, but I've still received the charges. Any advice would be grateful.
  2. Thanks for the advice guys, my mother did phone them up and the manager of groceries said that it shouldnt of happened at that time of day, but due the store being a 24 hour store it will happen with prices being changed on the shop floor, but changing of the price should of happened at 8am this morning. But my mother said that thats only on the new stock - NOT old stock, but he refused stating its to all stock. He did apologized and said he would pass the comment on. Makes us think that they put the price up, just so they can advertise the price rollback and say they are cheaper.
  3. While shopping in Asda @ Owlcotes Centre - Pudsey (Leeds) this morning, my mother was looking at the childrens bags for £6. After finishing her shopping she went to the checkout which were next to the bags when an assistant came up and took the boxes of bags off the shelf and then took the bags out of the boxes which had £6 printed on and placed the bags back onto the shelves and changed the price that was printed on the shelf from £6 to £8, then started to do the same with other stock ie: children's drink bottles. My parents asked about the prices and the assistant said that the prices had gone up, but as my parents had understood the new price applies to new stock NOT old stock thats already on the shelves. Any comments welcomed.
  4. I've contacted Consumer Direct and Trading Standards, but no ones replied yet. I have been told though its down to the place of purchase to either refund, replace or repair the item not the manufacturer. I just need proof (once again) that its poor manufacturing, according to the Sales of Goods Act 1979.
  5. Thanks for the reply, yeh the catalogue have been in contact with Sony and they were told that the only way that I could get the repair done for free would be to get proof from an independant computer company to say the hinges are an manurfacture fault (or something along those lines). I have read on the web in a few places that Sony VAIO's are known for the hinges being a weak point. Because the hinges start making a cracking noise and then break under the amount of pressure due to the grease wearing out which is what happened to mine. Far as I can tell the hinges aren't plastic they are of some other sort of material. I di find someone on Ebay selling them but they won't ship Internationally. I was hoping that the catalogue would be kind enough to let me send the laptop back to them and get an exchange but they're not having any of it. Yes I've searched the problem and found the same reports
  6. Hey, After purchasing my 3rd VAIO lappy last year I thought that it would bring some great times. How wrong I would be, as only last sunday I went to close the laptop down and the hinge on the right side snapped inside and now I can't close the laptop at all because if I do the plastic will break off. I contacted VAIO as the E-Support have never got in touch with me (surprise surprise), and was disgusted to find out that Sony VAIO say that if a hinge (which is the main part of a laptop which connects the base to the screen) isn't covered by the warranty and I would have to pay £140 just for them to collect and diagnose the problem. But then I would have to pay more for the part and labour when the repair is done. Now I contacted the place I purchased it from (catalogue) and they couldn't understand why Sony had said this as my warranty hadn't expired, so they got in contact with them. Today I received a disturbing phone call from the catalogue to inform me that the information was CORRECT and they could only suggest that I take the laptop to an independent computer store and the store confirm that its a manurfactured defect. Now I'm very puzzled about this because I've been told that the computer stores will charge for this service. I'm just hoping that someone here has some advice on what I can do about this because this laptop has cost me over £1,299 and I can't understand how Sony VAIO can say that the hinge is not covered unless they know for a fact that the hinge will break. Any help would be grateful. Highroyds
  7. Hi all, Hope someone can give me some advice what to do next and how to go about it. I've been charged by LloydsTSB for around 3 years (the charges I can find) and the total was around £1,700. After hearing about the BBC report I decided to download the letter from their web site and replace parts that it told me to with my details, then send it off to LloydsTSB. Now, they received the letter around the 9th Jan 2007 as I sent it via recorded delivery. But this week I received a letter from them with the following: Now I've found out they've added even more charges onto my account. They have been all Over draft charges, account charges and over draft excess fee's. I would be grateful for any advice on what i should do next. Thank you.
  8. Hi, A little advice here, contact the guys on the ntlhell board as theres a few engineers and customer support staff on there that will help you. I had a samular problem after my neighbour had ntl installed and after pm'ing the guys on that board and loads of phone calls we got it sorted out. The only downside was it took around 3 months and £15 worth of calls to their so called "Support line", but one engineers phone call to his area boss after he came out to have a look. We are in the process in writing a letter to get some money back from ntl as we had to suffer with a degraded service as the neighbours box was connected to our cable feed.
