UPDATE: PCN cancelled. I followed the advice on here, wrote to council including evidence of holiday. Got a letter back today from council saying that my registration number had been recorded as being present in the bay when the 'bay suspended' signs were put up so they were cancelling the PCN and apologising for the inconvenience! Jamberson was spot on. Thanks to all those who replied. It did make me wonder how many other people who didn't come to CAG or other advice sites would just have paid it, thinking there wasn't much point in complaining.

I was reading a post about hermes and declared value which should have been 1100 but was found to be recorded at 700. So i thought to share what i have been doing since alitalia sold me a no luggage ticket despite me paying for a full ticket. There's a feature in windows 10 which allows you to video your computer screen while you book services or buy goods or do anything else. It's the windows logo key + G key. I'm sure other operating systems have similar features. Videoing this, it's a bit like recording the telephone calls; it proves what we have done at point of sale so any "glitch" would be the seller problem and any dispute would be settled in our favour. Thoughts and opinions welcome.

Next time you have to park and meet up with this manager I would thoroughly stitch him up. Insist you go to a P&D site, make sure it's okay to park vans, make sure they have ANPR and are well known for being litigious. Tell him you'll meet him in the car park, he'll be fine as he's not parking, only picking you up, he won't be leaving the vehicle (B.S. but he won't know that I bet). Arrive a few minutes late, faff about finding change for the meter (keep your receipt & claim back on expenses), get a pal to ring you as you're just about to leave van etc., anything you can think of to dither about with. Get it past 10 minutes between his "in" and "out" times and he should receive his very own PCN to cherish. Revenge is a dish best served cold as the saying goes!

I think it's three days prior, for the sign to go up. In general, they will photograph the vehicles in the bay when the signs go up - if you weren't there then, but were when the suspension came in, they would tow the vehicle to the pound, on the basis that you parked after the signs. If you were there beforehand, they just relocate it - so this indicates to me that they know your vehicle was there before the signs. The PCN is issued as a processing necessity. I would expect you to have it cancelled if you write a short, polite letter explaining when you parked, and that you went away etc.
