HI Just stumbled across this. OK first of all lets get this out of the way, I was correct in all my views on this, the judgement echoed exactly the points I tried to make on the thread. I am not going to apologise for being correct. Secondly there was very little “personal abuse” on my part, certainly some frustration at the amount of prevarication that was taking place, when a point was raised that could not be answered, that’s when the client confidentiality card was played or if that failed the “ well I have had expert advice and they must be correct “, well they weren’t were they.. As for the points raised, if you read the thre1 point

Autodata shows it as requiring 5W/30 Fully Synthetic oil with no alternative, so if the garage has put in mineral 10W/40 then this may well have contributed to the problem as cars with DPFs require a "low ash" oil which burns in a particular way to avoid clogging up the DPF - as helios says, it is likely the the DPF was already pretty well goosed when you got it, but putting in the wrong oil will have made matters worse - just as a matter of course, I would get an oil and filter change with the correct oil done as soon as is practical assuming that you get it operational again0 points

Just to give you a bit of background, I am a specialist motorcycle accident investigator and deal with probably 200+ crashes a year involving bikes, plus 20+ years as a Police motorcycle cop dealing with fatals and catastrophic crashes, so there is not much I have not seen or investigated, ands I am one of 2 members of the Law Society panel of expert witnesses for motorcycles, so I have a bit of experience. Firstly, a motorcycle specialist law firm are no better than a regular personal injury law firm. I can give you several examples from this year alone where a so called motorcycle crash specialist has chucked the towel in as soon as l0 points
