hello could anybody help me? i made a claim against the halifax last october for around £3000 worth of charges and this total wasnt going back 6 years. Stupid as i was, they offered me a settlement figure of £1040 which i accepted. I signed a acceptance form what basically says i accept the offer of £1040 from the halifax in a full and final settlement of my complaint. Does anybody know if i could go back and try to claim the rest of the money and other charges if i get my full 6 years of statements.

I think it would depend on what your claim actually stated, ie how specific it was and the specific wording of the acceptance that you signed.

the letter says i ***** of ****** confirm that i accept the offer of £1040.00 from halifax/bank of scotland in full and final settlement of my complaint regarding bank charges made on my halifax/bank of scotland accounts.

then i have signed and dated the letter, any help on this would be great

I would make an attempt. Not sure why you didn't start with the full 6 years (or more) originally, maybe you only had the 3 years to hand. I would start with the S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) request with the £10 fee. See the FAQs and templates for details and then write and ask for the charges for the specified period prior to your last claim. If they write back and say we have already agreed a F&F settlement then I would say yes for that complaint which covered the period xx - xx. This is an entirely separate complaint/request for return of charges and by the way you only have n days left before I file a claim.

Has got to be worth a shot. I would probably also add any charges since the last settlement if there have been any.

The bit that I don't think that you can't go back for again is the period for which you have already settled.

thank you very much for your advice, the charges i did apply for was dated from march 2003 to aug 2006 at that time i did not realize that you could go back six years and had them bank statements to hand. (stupid) will start with a S.A.R. request and see what happens. again thanks and hope to keep you posted with how i am getting on.
