Hi,

Today I was in Superdrug and my friend stole three concelars and had to give her address and parents phone number over, then received the "life ban" punishment.

About half an hour before her older brother came to collect her the manager informed me and another friend that we were also getting a life ban and asked for our adresses but not parents phone numbers because of "civil recovery". I don't know what this is - we didn't steal anything and showed recepits for proof that we bought our items.

Also, they asked us if we saw her steal the makeup and we genuinley did NOT plus we didn't actually commit a crime, yet we've still been banned for life.

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

So, did you give your details?

Hi and welcome to CAG.

Guilt by association! Superdrug security have decided that as you were with the thief you are just as guilty. Absolute cobblers. It's a shame you gave out your details as they had no right and as for 'Civil Recovery', they can do one!

Rant over. I am making a guess here but are you under 18? Do you live with your parents? If yes, have you divulged what happened to them?

From what you said in your first post, it seems that Superdrug security will send your details to Retail Loss Prevention (RLP) who will chase all three of you for a 'contribution' to the security costs. They may even make the claim that each event costs between £300 and £500 which is total rubbish. Please read around the this forum to see what power RLP hold over you. (None BTW)

Now, I have assumed that RLP will get in touch but if not that's all to the good.

One thing about shops. The public are in the store by invitation, not by right and a store can revoke the invitation for any reason or no reason at all.

Let's see what the next few days brings.

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.

Agree with the above - Superdrug are basically saying that as you were all together they are not trusting any of you to not be the next ones to try stealing so will not be prepapred to have you on the premises in future - just in case

RLP are well known for sending their spurious bill for security costs to each of those who were detained so that hopefully one of you cracks and pays - effectively on behalf of all of you. You can confidently ignore anything that might be sent to you - and tell your friends to do the same, as RLP are not entitled to anything, and all they will do is send letters. They will send increasingly threatening demands though, hence why it would be better if parents were aware of the situation in case a letter gets opened or seen by them in error. If they have any intention to speak to RLP or worse still, pay them, then send them here to ask questions and we will happily put their minds at rest. Ignoring RLP is essential and nothing bad will happen if you do

Any advice given is done so on the assumption that recipients will also take professional advice where appropriate.
